I studied physiotherapy at Keele University qualifying with a first class honours in 2005 and began working as a Chartered Physiotherapist. I soon developed a passion for treating musculoskeletal conditions which also led to an interest in Pilates. It was in 2008 when I attended my first Pilates course with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute which enabled me to teach Pilates on a one to one basis with my patients. Over the years I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience and started teaching small group classes in Tewkesbury after completing my instructor training.
I have worked with a variety of pathologies and abilities and can modify and tailor my classes to individual needs. My classes are for everyone whether you are new to Pilates or experienced and whether you are fit and well, have a medical condition or injury. I also feel that Pilates can complement existing workouts and help improve posture, pain, flexibility and strength.
Using my knowledge and understanding of the body's’ anatomy and biomechanics, I can assist and progress you at the right level for your needs and ability.
I offer one to one assessments prior to commencing my classes to optimise individual benefits from the class.
Physiotherapy
As a highly experienced specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, I have worked in the NHS as well as the private sector since 2005. Over the years I have developed specialist skills in Rheumatology and Hydrotherapy. I have also worked as a senior hand therapist since 2008, acquiring skills in wound management and splinting as well as working alongside Orthopaedic hand surgeons within clinics managing complex hand conditions. In my NHS work I have also developed a specialism in the management of neck pain and upper limb conditions. I have continued to develop my skills with many courses. This includes developing skills in manual therapy after completing my upper quadrant Masters course. This has helped ensure I manage patients with an evidence-based approach, utilising high level diagnostic skills, hands on manual therapy, and targeted exercise for a complete holistic approach.
In addition to my NHS work I have also worked in private practice. I also have a passion for sports physiotherapy and have worked with rugby teams providing pitch side assessment and rehabilitation, as well as working as a physiotherapist for the London Marathon.
