This Easter brought something truly special for our residents, families, and staff to enjoy together.
On Tuesday 14th, we welcomed five duck eggs into the home, and over the following days, everyone eagerly gathered to watch and wait. It quickly became the highlight of the week, with residents regularly checking in on their progress and sharing in the excitement.
Our first duckling hatched on Wednesday evening – a beautiful dark one, lovingly named Billie. On Thursday night, we were delighted to welcome our second arrival, a bright yellow duckling named Daffy. By Friday midday, our third little duckling made its appearance – the smallest of the trio, named Tiny Tim. Although Tiny Tim had a slight crooked neck, he showed real strength and resilience, and it was heartwarming to see him doing so well.
From those first moments of hatching to watching them find their feet, explore their surroundings, and enjoy their very first swims, the ducklings brought so much joy into the home. Residents loved holding them, observing their personalities develop, and reminiscing about their own experiences with animals over the years. It sparked countless conversations, smiles, and special shared moments between residents, families, and staff.
Animal experiences like this are incredibly meaningful, offering comfort, stimulation, and a real sense of connection. It was wonderful to see how something so simple could bring so much happiness to everyone involved.
This week, we said a fond farewell as the ducklings returned home. While it was a sad goodbye, we are so grateful for the memories they’ve given us – ones that will be talked about for a long time to come.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a special Easter at Magnolia House 🐥💛
