📚✨ Book Club...

There’s something truly special about a good story — and today our Book Club was filled with wonderful moments.

Residents and a member of our team took turns reading their favourite pieces from books they’ve enjoyed over the years, sparking lovely conversations and memories along the way.

A real highlight was when one of our residents read a short story from a book he wrote himself — a brilliant reminder of the talent, creativity and life experience within our home. 👏📖

🧁☕ Cake decorating & a cuppa at Magnolia House!

Recently our residents enjoyed a wonderfully sweet afternoon getting creative with cake decorating — piping icing, adding colourful toppings, and finishing each little cupcake with their own personal flair. 🎨✨

With a nice cup of tea in hand and plenty of smiles around the table, it was the perfect activity for a relaxed catch-up, a bit of laughter, and some gentle creativity (plus a few tasty “quality control” moments too!). 😄🍰

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! 💛🐉

Today at Magnolia House we’ve been celebrating St David’s Day in true Welsh style – with the home dressed beautifully in Welsh flags and bunting, tables set ready for everyone to enjoy, and cheerful daffodils brightening the room. 🌼

Our kitchen team has also been busy putting together a special St David’s Day menu, with a delicious lunch (roast lamb with mint sauce, roast & creamed potatoes and vegetables of the day) followed by a lovely sweet treat – and of course we couldn’t miss out on Welsh cakes and cupcakes for afternoon tea! 🧁🍰

🎊 Celebrating Chinese New Year...

Our residents have had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year! 🏮✨

We got creative and made a lovely Chinese New Year collage, with lots of colourful designs and a brilliant Year of the Horse theme 🐎🎨. It was a great activity for everyone to get involved in and enjoy together.

After all the crafting, residents sampled some tasty Chinese spring rolls and had a go at cracking open their fortune cookies too 🥠😄

There were definitely a few interesting fortunes shared, which gave us all a smile and a laugh!

We’ve been looking back at our Pancake Day celebrations and these action shots say it all — plenty of laughter, a few very impressive flips, and lots of delicious pancakes enjoyed by our residents!

From taking turns with the frying pans to choosing favourite toppings, it was a brilliant activity that brought everyone together. The topping table was a big hit too — with classics like lemon & sugar and golden syrup, along with sweet treats including chocolate spread and cream. 😋

A huge well done to our residents for giving the pancake toss a go (some flips were definitely award-worthy! 😉) and thank you to our team for making the day so special.

🥞 Happy Shrove Tuesday from Magnolia House...

It’s Pancake Day and we’ll be celebrating across our Cedar Trust homes with plenty of smiles, pancake tossing (wish us luck! 😄), and the all-important debate… what’s the best topping?

Our residents will be enjoying fresh pancakes, a fun bit of flipping, and choosing their favourites — sweet, fruity, or maybe something a little different!

Topping ideas we love:
🍋 Lemon & sugar (a classic!)
🍓 Fresh berries & cream
🍫 Chocolate spread & banana
🍎 Cinnamon apples
🍯 Honey or golden syrup
🍦 Ice cream (because why not?)

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Magnolia House ❤️🌹

We’ve been busy adding a little extra love around the home today — with heart balloons, beautiful table settings, and a dining room ready to welcome our residents for a special Valentine’s dinner.

And of course, what’s Valentine’s without something sweet? Our team have also prepared gorgeous heart-themed treats to enjoy alongside the celebrations — the perfect finishing touch for a lovely day together. 🧁💕

What a lovely couple of moments here at Magnolia House 💛

We’ve been celebrating a recent birthday with smiles all round, a beautiful cake (candles and all!) and plenty of heartfelt wishes. 🎂✨

And of course, no celebration week would be complete without one of our absolute favourites… BINGO! 🎉

There was lots of laughter, friendly competition, and that brilliant buzz in the room as everyone listened out for their numbers.

It’s days like these — simple, joyful, shared together — that make Magnolia House feel like home. 🏡

A big thank you to our wonderful regular visitor Andy Yapp for bringing the music to Magnolia House.

There’s nothing quite like a live singalong to lift the mood – and our lounge was full of smiles, toe-tapping and plenty of rhythm (our maracas were working overtime! 🪇). Music has such a special way of sparking memories, encouraging conversation and bringing everyone together.

We’re already looking forward to the next visit! 🎸✨

🧶 Knit & Natter at Magnolia House...

There’s something so wonderfully comforting about a good chat, a warm drink, and the gentle click of knitting needles ✨ Our Knit & Natter sessions have been a real highlight here at Magnolia House — bringing everyone together for laughter, friendship, and a little creative magic.

From picking colours and patterns to swapping tips (and a few giggles!) these sessions are a lovely way to keep hands busy, minds active, and spirits lifted 💜 Plus, there’s nothing quite like seeing a project grow stitch by stitch.

Happy Burns Night from everyone at Magnolia House...

Burns Night is a lovely reminder of the warmth that comes from sharing traditions, memories and a few lines of a well-loved poem. Whether you’re marking the occasion with a meal, a toast, or simply a smile, we’d like to wish all our residents, families, friends and colleagues a very happy evening.
