We all instinctively know that talking our problems through helps us in times of trouble or when we are in distress. All sorts of people now go to counselling or therapy because they find it enormously helpful in resolving personal problems.

Happy New Year everyone! If you’re resolving to do a few things differently next year, why not start with ‘a reverse bucket list’? Thanks to US therapist Lori Gottlieb for the idea:-

Given the limited time we all have to live, what are the top three things you would never want to do again or would want to stop doing altogether?

As you reflect on this 👆your reverse bucket list, how might your answers be a catalyst for changing the story of your life, or maybe just the course of 2025, even in a small but meaningful way?

I think midlife is when the Universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear:
I’m not screwing around. It’s time. All of this pretending and performing – these coping mechanisms that you’ve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt – has to go.

Your armour is preventing you from growing into your gifts. I understand that you needed these protections when you were small. I understand that you believed your armor could help you secure all of the things you needed to feel worthy of love and belonging, but you’re still searching and you’re more lost than ever.

Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging.

Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen.

Oh I love this so much ❤️

I’d wager a bet that every single person reading this will relate.

And yet how many times do we look at others and think they’re “doing life” so much better than us.

We ALL have our vulnerable moments - even if we’ve been taught in the past not to show it.

I see you - because it takes one to know one.

None of us is truly alone - share your vulnerabilities and you’ll be surprised how many people will say…..

“Hey, me too.” 🥰

Big thanks All on the Board

This is probably the best feature I’ve ever read about the experience of therapy. Of course every therapist has their own style, just as every client comes for different reasons. Please do read this though, if you have ever wondered what it’s like and if it would work for you:

Therapy was like finding a key for a door that had been locked my whole life. Here are the nine things it’s taught me

Lockdown can be a lonely time, but for those of us suddenly living in each other’s pockets, a bit of solitude is hard to find
