Do you know what makes you happy ?

Give yourself time to explore what this is for you and try to ensure that it is in your life.

For me that is the people I love, music, nature, my job a decent supply of tea and The Real Housewives of anywhere (guilty pleasure). Who said it had to be fancy ?

Do you, and your idea of happy and have a great day x

“ Can’t see the wood for the trees”. When I was younger, the world seemed full of sayings that I had no idea what they meant. But it turns out that many of these hold nuggets of truth.

When you’re in amongst the hubbub of life seeing the bigger picture can seem impossible, and we can take on a head down keep going mentality hoping for change.

Maybe you can see, know and give perfect advice to someone else who seems to be having a hard time, but your own life, well that’s a little different ?

Hypnotherapy can allow you to have different perspectives on the situation you may find yourself in. This enables you to consider different ways of doing and thinking about a situation and finding those “nuggets” within yourself.

If you would like to discuss how hypnotherapy may help you find clarity and balance please do get in touch. We can have a free 30 minute chat to discover if it might be right for you.

I heard this phrase today, however it had a little more to it.

The whole phrase being " You can't be everyone's cup of tea because that would make you a mug!". Initially I thought " harsh" but then when I unpicked it a bit more my conclusion was " harsh but true".

Humans are innately wired to function in groups, at its most basic level for safety, and many other reasons but also social interaction, which we know from research is vital to our well being.

But what cost are you willing to pay to be a part of a social group or any group?

Do you allow your values and beliefs to get lost in the wish to be accepted? Maybe you hide your religious or spiritual beliefs, your sexuality, or even your music preferences, or your passion for 70's fashion.

Let's be honest the list is endless here, there are so many parts of ourselves that we may not want others to see or know about so that we can be accepted.

Knowing and understanding that not everyone likes us, and that's ok is a great place to start, because let's be honest you and I don't like everyone. With some people it's easy, others create more of a challenge, some people we just don't like and we can't even think of a reason why.

Having a strong self esteem, confidence and the ability to place boundaries can help you navigate such situations. Allowing you to be true to yourself, your beliefs and values. This allows you to be authentic and live your life, not a lesser version in a bid for acceptance.

If you would like to explore how you can live a life with more self esteem, confidence and install boundaries please do get in contact.

Sleep, so easy for some, elusive for others. But the simple question is are you getting enough ?

We all know that there can be periods in our lives that can result in disruption to our sleep, the arrival of a baby, young children, ill health, bereavement, stress or anxiety, a job with variable shift patterns the list is endless.

Often the disruption can be limited until we have resolved the issue creating it, but prolonged sleep disruption can have a negative impact on the quality of life. Hypnotherapy can help in many areas, allowing you to recognise the cause/s and address them in a way that is right for you.

If you are experiencing insomnia at this time know that there is benefit from purely resting on your bed. Know that your thoughts at this time can exacerbate your lack of sleep so if you can, think about a scene that you find calming, by the sea, in the woods, whatever that is for you. Bring in all the details together to create that, what would you see, smell, touch, hear. What would your body feel like in this place ?

This can be so much more beneficial and successful than worrying about tomorrow. Maybe give it a shot.

Do you have favourite songs or pieces of music? Maybe a track that evokes joy, happiness, and even a magical Time Machine that transports you back to a crazy night of fun or even a broken heart?

There are many pieces of research that demonstrate the benefit of music,

🎼it provides a release of dopamine & serotonin that give us a boost of “feel good”.

🎼 it increases self awareness.

🎼reduces stress

🎼can create a feeling of belonging to a group of people and add to identity.

🎼lyrics of a song can reflect what we maybe unable to express, this allows us to know we are not alone with our thoughts and feelings.

Trust me when I say this is literally the tip of the iceberg on what music provides you with.

So if you want to lift your mood, find out those records, C.D’s, turn on the radio, ask Alexa and turn it up. Allow yourself to sing, dance, time travel.

Have yourself a kitchen disco whilst doing tasks, turn the car radio on and listen to the tunes.

This isn’t a cure for any major event in your life but it allows you to remain connected to moments of feeling good -and offers you expression of what you are feeling if you are struggling with some aspect of life.

Our comfort zone can lead us to believe we are living our lives in the best way, but what happens when you find the courage to step out of it ?
This weekend I stepped out of my comfort zone.

I signed up to play in a charity “ blind doubles” dart competition. Just so you know I’ve never played darts in any competition or picked any up for at least 30 years.

Add to this I was playing in front of at least 60-80 people, the majority of whom were darts players and in all honesty having the spotlight on me isn’t my favourite place to be.

But I wanted to support this fund raiser so it meant stepping out of my comfort zone.

I knew that this was going to be down to who ever I got paired with to provide the skill of the game.

I got paired with a lovely, generous, supportive man who slowed me down in a bid to hit the board, encouraged me and made me laugh.

The event was a great success, money raised going towards a great charity, people had come together to do something positive and it felt good.

But it wasn’t just the charity that gained from the event, I did too, from the start to the semi finals !

I was encouraged, and supported not only by my “blind partner” but so many people attending the event.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and had great fun, made new friends, laughed at myself and with others, I’d like to say I gained a new skill but that wouldn’t be true.

What can you gain by stepping outside of your comfort zone I wonder ?

In doing so you stand to gain
New skills.
Conquer fears.
Set new goals.
Know you can face challenges.
Make new friends.
Feel alive.
Stretch yourself mentally / physically.

I don’t know about you, but I know I want to be the old lady who tells tales of what she did do, rather than what she wished she’d done.

Ever wonder why things seem so easy for others that you seem to struggle with ?

Whatever that might be, from :-

🏃‍♀️sticking to a new keep fit regime.

💻applying yourself to coursework.

📞understanding how to market yourself or your business.

That comparison with others just seems to make you feel worse and you end up achieving less, and the words you use about yourself reinforce that you’ll never do it, never change, you’ll never achieve it, whatever “it” is for you.

I’ve been there ! Not smart enough, not technical enough, not slim enough. Turns out I was wrong. I am enough ! I am perfectly imperfect me. I am a “one-off” just as you are.

Learning to spot those thoughts and behaviours that hold you in that space is the starting point to a change that you can achieve wonders.

Yes there is always room to learn and understand more about yourself, others and the world we live in, and I hope for me and for you that never stops.

You’re here to live your life, not that perfect version you see on social media of someone else, your sibling, colleague, or friend.

If you would like to have a better understanding of who you are, what your goals are and what needs to be let go of or understood to achieve them then Circle Hypnotherapy could help you.
