Beyond the words, just in movement, a complete stranger felt and held for me the emotion that is always hidden from myself disguised as physical pain. When working with the sensations of pain more was processed and understood between us than any words have had before. A powerfully moving moment in the midst of the .dcop conference.
Thankyou to Sophie Edwards for feeling me and staying by my side until I was ready to let you go. 🙏

When clients ask me for tools and resources I always recommend to them first the Healthy Minds App because....

1; Its free but full of vast knowledge and tools
2; Its created be scientists, Psychiatrists, Counselling Psychologists etc.
3; It is based one evidence based research
4; It provides bite sized and manageable learning or exercises.
5; It follows a clear structural programme
6; it allows you to be flexible with the programme to suit your need of the day.
7; It talks in and to the everyday relatable language

I've used it myself and will always be my go to app.

Powered by science, funded by donation – no paywalls. Choose from active or seated meditation practices, ranging from five to 30 minutes long. Download the app now!

I can't advocate more for the benefits of kayaking on my mental health. It becomes an on water therapy session with my friends, develops mindful practice, provides green therapy and escapism aswell of course as exercise and movement.

I am really excited to finally announce that the website for (formerly known as Disseminating research through creativity) ‘Recreating research’ has finally come to fruition.
At the DCoP conference 2024 I introduced the committee’s initiative of bringing creativity into research as an innovative way to reach the public. As we head towards our summer conference with the theme of creativity threading through it, we can now provide a platform for you to showcase your creative research.

We want to encourage you to showcase how you ….
1; Use creative LANGUAGES to disseminate research
2; Expresses the use of REFLEXIVITY in practise as a source of research
3; APPLY the use of creative research methods.

We have had some really exciting creative submissions into the conference this year which we will profile on the website. So I encourage you all to take this opportunity to consider submitting your work. This is your site for you. It will evolve through the work you submit.

This initiative has played a key part in my own journey to finally feel a sense of belonging in our profession as a neurodiverse creative with imposter syndrome against the colonised academic backdrop. You can read my story as part of The Psychologists own call for ‘what does creativity mean to me?’

Now is a crucial opportunity to have your say. As a QCoP coordinating supervisor I personally believe that the closure of these qualifications will be detrimental to our profession. It will eliminate so many already well qualified practitioners who want to convert to being a Counselling Psychologist because they nelieve in the profession. It would also discriminate against those with disabilities by not having access to a training programme that offers independent flexible learning, proving greater self management skills.
