I almost didn’t swim today, the thought of getting wet again just didn’t appeal. But I reminded myself that if I swam just 4 lengths, I’d hit 5k and be halfway to my goal.

Once I got in, I just kept going… and 44 lengths later, I’d reached 6k!

Now it’s time to give my poor old arms and legs a well-earned rest for a few days.

Thank you to everyone who has donated x

What a crazy first few weeks of term! Lifesaving course, lifesaving assessments, first aid courses, council meetings and a return to club coaching for both Reading Royals and Electric Eels 😴 It was lovely to catch up with my old work colleagues & friends as they embarked on the new Combined Emergency First Aid at Work/Emergency Paediatric First Aid course. 100% pass rate too 👏

Week 2, Day 1 - Ran out the office late for lunch, dashed to the pool with only 20 minutes of the session left and managed a quick 26 lengths! It felt slow and hardwork today but only 7.5km to go. Does anyone fancy swimming with me? 🏊‍♀️

It’s always manic at the end of term and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks juggling your training and/or assessment needs with my full time job.
Well done everyone for passing your assessments and thank you to all my assessors.

Di Hughes Training

Hi, my name is Di and whilst this is my new business venture, I have worked in this industry for the last 30 years.

I am a passionate, committed, personable person who strives to make people comfortable whilst delivering First Aid tuition. I previously worked for the British Red Cross as a youth trainer in the Thames Valley area teaching First Aid to both young people and adults working with or responsible for young people. I currently train all the lifeguards who work in the Reading Borough Council leisure centres and previously ran all the lifeguard courses too.

With regards to First Aid courses and First Aid training my client list includes: Theale C of E Primary School, The Abbey School, John Madjeski Academy, Reading Borough Council, Berkshire Maestros & Brightstart Nursey.

I am fortunate enough to have worked with young people, and in education for many years and you may know me or associate my name with other groups I am connected with rather than first aid.
