Following an assessment at East Anglian DriveAbility, a left foot accelerator was recommended. With specialist lessons and support from our team, Lesley successfully passed her driving assessment and is now rebuilding her confidence and independence.

Lesley said:
“My husband and I found the whole process really helpful and friendly at all times and would encourage anyone to go and have a try!”

✨ Feedback Friday ✨

Following a long and difficult year of stroke recovery, a client spoke honestly about the nerves they felt before their driving assessment. With the calm, supportive approach of Paul and Natalie, they were able to relax, take their time, and focus on the drive.

“I was nervous to start with on the actual drive and was soon put at ease by Paul and Natalie. I was not rushed, and the assessment was carried out at a relaxed pace. I am now safe and able to drive. I could not have asked for a better experience, thanks to the support, kindness and professional manner by which my assessment was conducted.”

We love hearing feedback like this. Our aim is always to make every assessment supportive, understanding, and confidence-building.
If you or someone you know is unsure about returning to driving after a stroke or health diagnosis, our team is here to help you feel safe, supported, and ready for the road.

Living with MS? Support for Safer Driving 🚗

A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis doesn’t automatically mean losing your independence. With the right support, many people continue to drive safely and confidently.

MS can affect the brain, spinal cord, and vision, which may influence driving in different ways. Some people may not need to make any changes, while others benefit from simple adjustments or specialist vehicle adaptations to stay safe on the road.

Our specialist driving assessments look at how MS may affect your driving, including:
-Physical abilities and movement
-Cognitive skills
-In-car control and comfort

Our Occupational Therapists and Driving Instructors will talk through suitable options and, where appropriate, recommend adaptations. You’ll also have the opportunity to try out equipment and see what works best for you.

Our goal is to help you stay safe, confident, and independent, with advice and solutions tailored to your individual needs. Contact us today to book your assessment or find out more:

National Race Against Dementia Day 🧠🏁

Today we’re supporting Race Against Dementia, a global charity founded by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE in 2016, dedicated to raising awareness and funding vital research to accelerate the search for a cure or effective treatments for dementia.

For many people, driving represents freedom and independence 🚗. However, as conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease progress, changes in cognitive, physical, and visual abilities can affect driving safety. Recognising and responding to these changes is essential.

How you can support a loved one:

💙 Spot the signs: Increased confusion, difficulty following directions, or not observing road rules may indicate the need for an assessment.
💙 Start the conversation: Discuss driving with empathy and reassurance. Assessments are there to support safety and independence- now and in the future.

At East Anglian Drivability, our Driving Assessments offer a professional, supportive way to evaluate driving ability. Assessments are carried out by an Occupational Therapist and a Driving Instructor, helping individuals remain independent for as long as it is safe to do so. Please get in touch, our friendly team can guide you through referrals, assessments and next steps.
