Today's Substack is on the recent findings about how the thymus gland may be a regulator and predictor of ageing followed by a dive into the spiky world of thistles. This weeks Vet Tale involves a hamster.

This week I have looked at the recent changes in how we may be evaluating the health of the gut microbiome in the future, not as a fixed ‘correct’ entity but in terms of its ability to adapt to change. I then look at the plant remedy Ledum and look beyond it’s first aid use in puncture wounds. With a Tale from Vet Practice of course to round it off.

A LOOK AT LEDUM

This week's Substack explores how bee colonies are superorganisms that need to be studied as a whole entity and I also look at how pearl is used in medicine. Have a great week.

Homeopathy UK hosted a wonderful celebration of homeopathy in London last weekend at Marylebone One. So fabulous to be in a room full to bursting with homeopaths and homeopathic supporters, all having a great time together, sharing experiences and stories in beautiful surroundings, enjoying exciting food and entertainment. It is long overdue that homeopathy was celebrated for being the incredible medicine modality that it is.

This weeks Substack post marks a special day - I have completed the first draft of my next book - Animals: Their Lives on Our Terms. Long time coming but finally in the closing stages!!
This week I am taking a look at some new research into why exclusion diets alone are often not enough to sort food hypersensitivity in dogs and revisit equine tendon injuries, plus a vets tale retelling a day with a little magic. Hope you enjoy.

Many of you know that as well as my veterinary and human integrative medicine work, I set up an arts charity called Scott Creative Arts Foundation (SCAF) back in 2016 along with a Community Garden Project. We are hosting a charity event on THURSDAY 16th APRIL in collaboration with Bryan Smart Racing. The event is to raise funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity and SCAF on the afternoon. We would love it if some of you could join us for a fun afternoon.

Join us for SCAF CHARITY RACE DAY, a fun-filled day of races supporting a great cause—don’t miss out!

Today’s post introduces the amazing decision makers in our cells, the sirtuin protein family. I then report on new legislation that comes into being on 6th April this year requiring all primate owners to be licensed. My vet tale this month is a heart warming marmoset story from practice. Enjoy!

This week I have been researching the amazing properties of water for the chapter on Dynamism for my upcoming book and I am sharing some of this with you. I am also reporting on yet another new insight into the microbiome and how this is leading to new ways to treat diseases such as fatty liver and Type 2 diabetes. Plus a vets tale of course.

This week I am looking at the mission creep from animal welfare first to environment first and what that really means for ruminants. Then I explore some interesting research into how horses respond to human emotional odour cues. Plus this week a humanimal tale!

Check out my new post! This weeks I am delving into a new gene technology being developed for the control of red mite in poultry, which may have big implications for other species and the environment. I then discuss a Stanford paper looking at how prostaglandin might actually be needed to repair cartilage and may not be the enemy we thought it was, at least in small doses and in certain circumstances!
