Can you eat PROCESSED FOODS & still GET IN SHAPE?

Ultra Processed Food -or to give its technical term. Food that tastes f*cking delicious!

CAN be a problem in a lot of our diets.

It's often high in calories.

High in fat, salt & sugar.

Low in fibre.

Low in vitamins & minerals.

AND EXTREMELY bad at leaving you feeling full.

No one has ever eaten a McDonalds & said "Wow I'm stuffed"

And if you have, you've probably spent a full days wage.

Shockingly, these sorts of foods make up about 66% of the average adults diet in the UK! 😲

For these reasons we recommend to our clients that they aim to stick to the 80/20 rule.

I know you'll be skim reading this, so to be absolutely clear NO this doesn't mean you should increase your processed food intake from 66% to 80% πŸ˜‚

80% of your diet should ideally be made up of low processed, good quality food (think meat, fish, veg, fruit, nuts, high quality bread, yogurt, pasta, rice etc)

& up to 20% from the more highly processed foods (Dairy milk, Doritos, Ben & Jerry's, Greggs sausage rolls etc. Cornettos are a personal favourite of mine!)

This 80/20 split should ensure you're getting all the necessary vitamins & minerals you need, all the adequate protein & fibre you need BUT without feeling you're on such a strict diet you adopt the f*ck it mentality & order a family feast for 1.

So aim for the middle ground. And enjoy your Cornetto πŸ’ͺ

A little bit of todays training with one of our awesome clients Ben 😁

He really enjoys (although he wouldn't use that exact word 🀣) full body workouts in a format that allows him to train mostly with weights, while still getting a cardio workout too.

So we've created a workout that uses weight training exercises, in a circuit format.

A1- Lat Pulldown
A2- Hip Extension
A3- Shoulder Press
A4- Step Up
A5- Cuffed Y Raise
A6- Reverse Crunch

The goal is to do them one after the other, allowing for a long (although again, Ben might disagree with "long" πŸ˜‚) rest at the end of each round.

He repeats for a total of 3 rounds- or until his whining gets too much for me to stand- before finishing up with a few bicep curls.

Because he obvsiouly can't leave the gym without a good arm pump πŸ’ͺ
