Our first Introduction to Fly Fishing course of the year took place at Maran Lakes on 6 May, and it was a fantastic start to the season.

All participants gave positive feedback on the amount of information they received and how much they enjoyed the course, making it an ideal way for beginners to get started in a friendly and professional setting.

Further courses have now been confirmed for 3 June and 8 July.

Great day on the water at Kilnsey Park Fisheries 🎣

Spent the session coaching four keen candidates through their first introduction to fly fishing—covering the fundamentals, building confidence, and working on both roll casts and overhead casts. Plenty of focus, a few tangles (as expected!), but real progress all round.

Always rewarding to see that moment when it starts to click.

To top it off, we watched another angler hook into and successfully land a stunning double-figure fish—proof of what’s possible with patience, technique, and a bit of persistence.

Days like this are a reminder of why getting outdoors matters. Fresh air, learning something new, and sharing the experience with others—can’t beat it.

Only 4 weeks into the coaching season and it’s great to reflect personally. I enjoy my role as Level 2 Lead Angling Coach, as I seek to engage with clients to make learning enjoyable. It’s also satisfying when they confirm you’re getting it right. Casting lines and making memories in nature, is what its all about! 🎣🐟🐟🐟😊👍🏻

We have been offering an introduction to Fly Fishing at Kilnsey Park Fisheries, Grassington (near Skipton) since 2013. These sessions are very popular and we already have a number of courses fully booked, as we enter Spring.
The team at Kilnsey Park have been working hard to remove silt from the lake and restocking the fish in order to improve the angling experience of those attending the fishery.
We are looking forward to meeting our new clients on 13th March, with courses running into early October. ,
