Working in hot temperatures:

With high temperatures across much of the country, employers must ensure workers are protected during hot weather.

There's no law for maximum working temperature, or when it's too hot to work, because every workplace is different.

HSE's website has a practical step guide on temperature in the workplace.

This includes guidance on:

what the law says
managing workplace temperature
preventing heat stress
protecting those working outdoors

In offices or similar environments, the temperature in workplaces must be reasonable.

Stronger protections for children with allergies in school:

Section 72 of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, also referred to as Benedict’s Law will introduce new requirements to strengthen allergy safety in schools. Life-saving allergy pens MUST now be stocked by schools for the first time under new plans which come into affect in September this year in time for the new school year.

The new statutory requirements mean for the first time schools must:

Stock “spare” adrenaline auto-injectors for use in emergency situations.

Provide allergy awareness training for all staff — covering recognition of symptoms, emergency response and the use of adrenaline devices — alongside improved incident recording and lessons learnt processes.

Have a comprehensive policy for supporting children with medical conditions, including Individual Healthcare Plans to record specific arrangements for individuals like an allergy management plan.

This new guidance replaces the previous non-statutory advice on allergy management in schools.

Firstaider Training can deliver allergy awareness sessions for you where attendees learn about the basic concepts of allergies, how to help prevent allergic reactions, and practical strategies for managing allergies within the school community. The sessions also include hands-on practice using adrenaline auto-injectors training devices.

Women are less likely to receive CPR or General First Aid due to awkwardness:

Although the study was originally done in the USA we have seen attitudes reflected here in the UK which was one of the reasons St John Ambulance launched their very good bra campaign.

It's the difference between life and death.
