"You're the only one that manages to take the pain away"

How; (as a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist, but also PT and Yoga instructor)...
For this particular client;
Assessment - range of movement, some special testing. Discussion about MOI (Mechanism of injury) and the history around it.
I'm not here to diagnose (out of scope of practice) but I can assess.

Standard massage techniques, such as effleurage and petrissage (that's how we warm the muscles - gliding and kneading)
Trigger point therapy
Myofascial Cupping - the cups are a big favourite of mine
Soft tissue mobilisation
Active release

At home care plan - including Mobilsation, Stretching and Strength

All part of the service 👐

The half price offer has been a huge hit and I've had some lovely feedback.
As a consequence my next available appointment is not until Monday 7th April.
Please message if you want to get booked in.
Thank you to all my lovely clients.
It's a busy old month, March, but a good one 😁

SPECIAL OFFER THROUGHOUT MARCH
50% OFF SPORTS MASSAGE APPOINTMENTS

NEED A SPRING IN YOUR STEP?? I have an amazing offer for you...

Yes that's correct - 50% off all Sports Massage appointments in March. Now only £20!!!

Clinic is now at set times 4pm - 8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays in our treatment room at JDW Fitness but I will also have some ad hoc availability during day time hours as well. DM to book.

I will also be looking for a "victim" to take part in a case study later on in the year - DM me if this may be of interest to you (all services as a guinea pig will be completely FOC but I do need the correct match).

Bit of background for you - I qualified as a Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist in 2017 (the basic level) and then did my Level 4 in 2021. Level 4 gives further knowledge in treatment of soft tissue injuries - invaluable techniques such as Soft Tissue Release , Muscle Energy Techniques, Connective Tissue Massage and Myofascial release. Much more than just a massage.

I've also separately added Myofascial Cupping to my list of services.

I am now embarking on my Level 5, a much longer and more in depth course and I need to increase my clinic hours to log over the next year, hence the reason for the 50% offer.

Some of the treatments/services I am adding over the course of the year will include the following;
Assessment and treatment of a further range of sports injuries
Complex assessment methods
Posture & gait analysis
Rehabilitation of injuries
Taping & Strapping techniques
Ultrasound and other electrotherapy modalities (such as TENS)

Plus a broad range of CPD;
Indian Head Massage
Blading
Pregnancy massage
Hot Stones massage
Dry Needling

Please DM to book an appointment (£20) or to volunteer your services as a guinea pig. Or with any questions about any of the above.

Just found out today that my Level 5 Sports Therapy course starts on Sunday. Not next month as I anticipated!
Excited, but also not prepared ... thankfully it's just an induction and I still have the month to complete the background learning modules 😐

One of my lovely clients today, presenting with shin pain;
It would be easy to make an assumption with this client being a runner, that it's an overtraining injury.
That's why I don't make assumptions. I ask lots of questions regarding MOI (mechanism of injury), how far do you run, how often, what kind of terrain, what kind of intensity, what do you do for a job, etc.. I look at movement patterns and ROM (range of movement) all as part of the service.
A little bit of chatting revealed a not so historic and severe ankle injury.
I make no diagnosis (out of my remit) but have given the client a 3 phase treatment plan.
We massaged and used the myofascial cups as part of today's session.
Phase 1 - focuses on reducing pain and relieving tension. Also improving flexibility and range of movement within the ankle. Client has some exercises to take away.
Looking to reduce/modify current training conditions for 1-2 weeks - keep moving but with low impact and cross training exercises.
We move to Phase 2 when there is zero pain at rest and all exercises can be completed with only mild pain (no more than 3/10).
