Many of my clients come to me having tried other therapists and types of therapy and of course that’s ok. Don’t be put you off getting the support you need. u. Here’s some info about me that will hopefully help you decide if I might be the right fit therapist for you! I’m Laura Jane and I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, as well as a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma, which is considered the gold standard in hypnotherapy training. I trained with CPHT, working with clients from the very start of my training, over 5 years ago. I am fully insured and registered with the professional accredited body - The Association of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (which means I have to complete regular CPD and supervision). I also have an enhanced DBS check. I see clients from all walks of life dealing with all manner of issues. Whatever you need support with, the chances are I’ve helped someone else with it before. I have my own personal experience of receiving exactly the same type of therapy (which led me here, to my passion, my profession). I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, stress and grief. I truly believe we are all works in progress, and continue to work on improving myself every day. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a combination of powerful talking therapy and relaxing hypnosis helping you towards your best hopes and goals, to be the best version of you. I’m truly passionate about helping my clients, I genuinely want to help. I will encourage you, challenge you respectfully and I will be your cheerleader. I will help you to focus on moving forward, without having to go over the past or focus on the problem. It might be difficult at times, but I will get the best out of you and the process. Dare I say, you might even find it enjoyable! I’ve had as much laughter as tears over the years in the safe space I call my therapy room. Phobias are powerful fears that can get in the way of living the life someone wants.
They’re often described as ‘irrational’ but that doesn’t mean the person is. In fact, most people with a phobia know the fear doesn’t quite make sense.

What’s happening is that the brain has learned, often very quickly and usually outside of our awareness, to treat something as dangerous when it isn’t actually a threat. And once that learning is in place, the fear feels very real, often overwhelming.
We can get a phobia of anything, from spiders to thunderstorms.

It’s interesting that we can also develop a phobia of something that others, without the phobia, would also find dangerous.
Snake phobia for instance, people without this phobia would still steer clear of encounters with venomous snakes. Someone with this phobia might not read this article if I add actual photo of a snake.

Thunderstorm phobias, someone without this phobia would still go inside if lightening was close.
Similarly a phobia of alligators Herpetophobia, might stop the person from looking a photo of one.
Sharks, we don’t swim in areas known for sharks, but with a phobia walking on that beach, away from the water, may be too frightening.
Fire, we are all careful around fire, it’s a healthy awareness of risk, but someone with a phobia might not enter a room if there’s a wood burning stove in there.
Phobias cause intense fear and stress even when the object of the phobia isn’t present.
If you think you’re stuck with your phobia because other people also feel fearful of the same thing, but your fear is intrusive, stopping you from living your life in the way you want, if your fear causes you too much stress, read on and hopefully feel a little freer today.

Fear learning is fast and keeps us safe. If you have a phobia, it’s not your fault, any one of us can develop a phobia of almost anything.
With the right support, our brain can learn something new. People can begin to notice moments of calm where fear used to be, and build on those step by step.

11 years ago I ran the London Marathon… and it still feels like one of those moments that quietly stayed with me.

Not because of the medal.
But because I showed up… even with the nerves, the doubt, the “can I actually do this?”

That start line holds so much — excitement, fear, a little bit of “who do I think I am?”
And still… you step forward.

So if you’re running today, or doing something that feels just outside your comfort zone…

This is for you 🤍

You don’t have to feel fully ready.
You just need to take the next step.

And then another.

Some parts might feel hard.
Some moments your mind might get a bit loud.

But there will also be those quiet moments where you realise…
“I’m doing it.”

And that’s enough.

Go gently. Go at your pace.
Let it be whatever it needs to be.

It’s been a busy week here…and so many clients have been experiencing overwhelm.

When the brain is overloaded, it often slips into threat-based negative thinking…and that internal voice can become critical, impatient, and hard to sit with.

But what really helps in those moments…is gently shifting toward a nurturing voice, rooted in kindness 💫

A voice that says: ‘It’s okay… you’re doing your best. Let’s take this one step at a time. You don’t have to have it all figured out today.’

Speaking to yourself…the way you would to a child…or a best friend who’s feeling overwhelmed.

With warmth. With patience. With understanding.

Because when we bring in kindness, the mind begins to feel safer… and when we feel safe, everything can start to settle.

So if today feels a bit much…just see if you can soften that inner voice, even slightly 💛🌅

Sometimes clients pause before speaking and say,

“…this might sound silly…”

Just so you know ~ when you come to see me, you’re safe to open up… and from there, we can gently notice what matters most and what might help things feel even a little bit better.

There’s no need to minimise or apologise here.

Often, the things that feel “silly” are the very things that matter most.

And when you feel safe enough to say them out loud, that’s often where things begin to shift.

Tears are always welcome. We embrace them… and often, they’re part of things beginning to shift.

As the sun sets on a Sunday evening, there’s often a shift…

For some, it’s calm. A gentle close to the weekend.
But for others, this is when the mind starts to get a bit louder.

Things to remember…
Conversations to have ~ just the mind doing what it does best: trying to get ahead and keep you prepared.

If you notice that feeling tonight, see if you can meet it with a bit of understanding rather than frustration.

Bring yourself back to now.
The evening. The light. The space you’re in.

You don’t need to solve the whole week tonight.

A slower pace… a cup of tea… an early night…
Small moments that remind your system it’s safe to switch off.
