Choosing a therapist can also take time. It’s important to find both the therapist and the therapy that’s the right fit for you. Many of my clients come to me having tried other therapists and types of therapy and of course that’s ok. Don’t be put you off getting the support you need. Finding a suitable therapist is very much like dating; it may take some time before finding the right match for you. Here’s some info about me that will hopefully help you decide if I might be the right fit therapist for you! I’m Laura Jane and I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, as well as a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma, which is considered the gold standard in hypnotherapy training. I trained with CPHT, working with clients from the very start of my training, over 5 years ago. I am fully insured and registered with the professional accredited body - The Association of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (which means I have to complete regular CPD and supervision). I also have an enhanced DBS check. I see clients from all walks of life dealing with all manner of issues. Whatever you need support with, the chances are I’ve helped someone else with it before. I have my own personal experience of receiving exactly the same type of therapy (which led me here, to my passion, my profession). I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, stress and grief. I truly believe we are all works in progress, and continue to work on improving myself every day. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a combination of powerful talking therapy and relaxing hypnosis helping you towards your best hopes and goals, to be the best version of you. I’m truly passionate about helping my clients, I genuinely want to help. I will encourage you, challenge you respectfully and I will be your cheerleader. I will help you to focus on moving forward, without having to go over the past or focus on the problem. It might be difficult at times, but I will get the best out of you and the process. Dare I say, you might even find it enjoyable! I’ve had as much laughter as tears over the years in the safe space I call my therapy room. People pleasing isn’t kindness
when it starts to cost you your peace.

You can be a deeply caring person… and still say, ‘that doesn’t work for me.’

You don’t have to keep abandoning yourself just to keep everyone else comfortable.

And truthfully ~ it isn’t easy.

Not when you’re used to keeping the peace… smoothing things over… putting others first… and telling yourself it doesn’t matter.

But maybe this is your gentle place to begin…

~ Pause before the automatic yes.

~ Let ‘no’ be a complete sentence.

~ Notice where resentment might be asking for a boundary.

~ And every now and then, ask yourself: what do I need?

Choosing yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s self-respect.

Sometimes the most regulating thing you can do… is stop trying to regulate.

No rushing to explain how you feel. No need to justify it. Just letting your body breathe again.

Emotional regulation begins here ~ in moments of quiet, safety, and space.

You don’t need to control your emotions. You need to feel supported enough to experience them.

And from that place… calm doesn’t have to be forced. It returns, gently, in its own time 🌊

Loneliness and low mood are more common than some might realise. And they don’t always look the way we expect. We might be surrounded by people and still feel disconnected. We can be functioning well on the outside and still feel flat, heavy, or quietly exhausted inside.

If this resonates, please know that feeling this way doesn’t mean there’s something ‘wrong’ with you, perhaps you’ve been coping with stress or loss or uncertainty for quite a while now and it feels heavy going. Perhaps, for whatever reason, you’ve simply spent too much time spent coping on your own.

isn’t a magic fix, and it’s not a replacement for medical or psychological care. But for some people, it can be a gentle and supportive way to help you reconnect with a sense of safety and ease and to build small, realistic steps back towards feeling more like yourself.

You don’t need to be in crisis to ask for support. Sometimes just having a calm, confidential space to talk, and to rest your mind a little, is a meaningful first step.

If you’re feeling lonely or low, please know you’re not weak, broken, or failing. You’re human, responding to a world that can be genuinely hard at times. Support doesn’t have to be dramatic or urgent to be valid. (Please check the comments if you need support right now, know that reaching out is the bravest thing and you matter.)

Sometimes it’s simply about being gently accompanied while you find your way forward again.

Some days just feel heavier than others. Quietly. Without a name.

Weekends often come with pressure, pressure to catch up on jobs we couldn’t fit in to our weekday schedule.
Weekend self care needs to not feel like adding to the chore list, so maybe something soothing and peaceful?

Nature has a wonderful way of slowing everything down, especially in Winter when the natural world seems as if it’s resting.

What about going for a walk, somewhere where no one needs anything from you.
Fresh, cool air filling your lungs a little deeper than during the week.

Winter bird song replacing busy thoughts.
Imagine our minds gently switching from ‘doing’ to simply ‘being.’

Self-care doesn’t have to be spa days or grand gestures.
Sometimes it’s as simple as sitting outside with a warm drink and looking at anything
natural and green.

When we slow down and take a moment to simply be that’s sometimes just what we’ve been missing all week.

So if you can this weekend, gift yourself something simple and natural.
In hypnotherapy we often use imagery that describes the natural world around us.

Your mind will thank you for the quiet.
Your body will thank you for the pause.

Lately I’ve been noticing that we have a tendency to keep going, even when things feel a little off underneath.

Not necessarily a crisis — just a subtle sense of holding a lot, being inwardly busy, and telling ourselves we should be coping better.

I notice this often in my clients, and I recognise it in myself too. I’m learning (and relearning) that some things ease when we stop pushing them — and that slowing down enough to notice what’s really going on, and meeting ourselves with a bit more kindness, can change more than we realise.

If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone in it. And you don’t need to have everything figured out.

Just sharing this as a gentle reminder that support is allowed, and that small, steady changes still matter.
