Residents and staff had a wonderful afternoon at Thornbury Castle Hotel today, for a lovely coffee and a picnic! We saw beautiful gardens, amazing artwork and marvelled at the opulent decor of the place. Hotel staff were kind enough to give us some leaflets detailing the history of the place and much conversation was had about royal lineage and the surprising amount of Catherines in Tudor times! Residents waxed nostalgic about the local area and had fun trying to attract the local wildlife with pieces of sandwich...

Food is such an important part of life here at Grace, and we're thrilled to have a kitchen team that is as skillful as they are innovative, accommodating and caring! With Exec chef Danny at the helm, supported by chefs Maggie and Roberto, we've leveled up our culinary offerings and had so many compliments from residents and families that we wanted to give them a proper welcome and celebration! To that end we set up a proper cocktail evening, with signature drinks and delicious cakes and canapes prepared by our new chef team! Resident baking expert Tony gave a speech and everyone had the chance to meet the team and chat about their plans for the menus.

Thanks to everyone who made out Mad Hatters Tea Party in aid of Hospice UK a great success! With our very own activity coordinator Rebecca as the Mad Hatters and the effervescent After Shock Drag on hand to run the festivities everyone had a fantastic time for a good cause! With a beautiful selection of cakes baked by Danny and our kitchen team, musical performance, group storytelling and bingo there truly was something for everyone.

One family member commented 'its great to know that there is such fun and entertainment available for mum... Today you, along with support from care staff, made a great difference to our day'

We're always so thrilled to be able to put these events on for our residents and community, and getting such kind feedback just makes our day!

Our Harvest Festival celebrations were a great success today, with residents, staff and family members enjoying a day of crafts, cakes and song. Residents made fall decorations to go on our beautiful autumn display, including hedgehogs and squirrels to be friends with our resident scarecrows, and some lovely bird boxes for robins to nest in!

We finished the day with singing classic harvest hymns, as well as readings and prayers from family members and activity co-ordinator Matt.

Residents loved the autumn display and having the chance to contribute, with one saying 'it's things like this that really make the place feel like home'

Don't forget to join us and After Shock Drag tomorrow for our fabulous Mad Hatters Tea Party! We're combining our Mad Hatters Day celebrations with a great cause in Hospice UK for a wonderful day of music, games and of course, the maddest of hats! The tea party starts at 3pm, but if you'd like to make your very own mad hat to wear please join us at 11 for mad hat making!

Thanks to everyone donated to our parcel for Thornbury Food Bank, and thanks to volunteer and Grace family member Edward for collecting and delivering the donations!

As one of our residents commented... 'It was such a blessing to see so many folks contribute much needed supplies as part of our Harvest Festival celebrations today, it's so good to know we're in a community of generous and kind people'

Our resident bakers are hard at work preparing for our Macmillan Cancer Support afternoon tea bake sale today! Come down and join us for a natter, a slice of cake and tea, and support a great cause!

We'll be came selling from 2pm, with free tea, coffee and soft drinks for all, we're pet friendly and just at the end of the old railway trail, so a lovely walk to get here too!

Don't forget folks, this Friday 26th at 6pm is the welcome party for our wonderful new kitchen team! And while it seems a bit mean to make them cater their own celebration, we're so excited for you all to get a taste of their talent we're doing it anyway! There will also be complimentary drinks and some beautiful live music, so put on your best threads and come and say hello!

Preparing for our upcoming Art Gallery Show, our upstairs residents worked together to create this lovely piece depicting various park animals! Painting is a great way to stay creative and collaborate together and residents enjoyed discussing what animals to paint and picking out their favourite colours to use
