Been scanning 36 years now. Still managed to come across a first.
Recently performed an external scan on some Shetland ponies for one of our regular clients. Everyone suitably surprised to see a set of twins. Lost a bit of clarity in image via remote monitor but sitting there as clear as day.

Ontario sheep scanning training finished. Great group of trainees, great shed and hosts, with a good variety of sheep to work with. Packed up heading to Saskatoon.
Had a few flash backs working with small bales of straw😀, back to my first years scanning.

Heading back over to Canada next week to deliver a few training courses and pass on some skills and knowledge in sheep scanning. Really looking forward to catching up with some old friends from our last trip and some enthusiastic beginners.

Sheep Scanning Training course dates confirmed:

Course 1 ( BEGINNERS - 2 day course) Mon 24th - Tue 25th Nov 2025
Course 2 ( BEGINNERS - 2 day course) Thu 27th - Fri 28th Nov 2025
Intensive practical training to develop sound technique to accurately identify the numbers of lambs in ewes.
Spaces limited to ensure low ratio of trainees to coaches.
Aimed at people ready to start their scanning career.

Course 3 ( REFRESHER/ ADVANCED - 1 day course ) Sat 29th Nov 2025
Aimed at scanners with at least one seasons scanning or experienced scanners wanting to improve their triplet detection.
Course will analyse and fine tune your individual scanning technique.

Currently some availability on all courses. Please message for further details.

A few days away after the scanning season. Sea Kayak trip from Barra to Sanday, Pabbay and Mingulay.
Still managed to see a few cows on my travels to this lovely remote part of Scotland.
