The Local Offer is a statutory requirement under the Children and Families Act (2014). Every local authority must publish a Local Offer to set out, in one place, the education, health and social care services available for children and young people with SEND (0-25).

Just as importantly, the Local Offer should be coโ€‘produced with children, young people and families, and regularly reviewed to make sure it reflects real experiences and what actually works locally.

The Local Offer Steering Group plays a key role in shaping, reviewing and improving this information so itโ€™s clear, accurate and genuinely helpful for families. See more information below ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ“ข There's still time to sign up for the first SEND Local Offer Steering Group meeting that's happening tomorrow!

๐Ÿ“† 08 May 2026
๐Ÿ•™ 10:00am โ€“ 12:00pm
๐Ÿ“ Committee Room, Municipal Offices, Bowling Green Road, Kettering, NN15 7QX

The Steering Group will help make sure the information on the SEND Local Offer website is clear, easy to use and focused on what really matters to families. This session will cover feedback about the website, sharing experiences and targeting the priority areas where more information is needed.

SEN Support strategies and adjustments are there to make sure children receive consistent and effective support across the school day.

Every teacher working with a child should:
โœ” Know the SEN Support plan
โœ” Follow agreed strategies and adjustments
โœ” Work together to support the childโ€™s needs

If you are unsure whether SEN Support is being followed consistently, we can help explain your rights and options.

Did you know? Under Section 44 of the Children and Families Act 2014, local authorities have clear legal duties around reviewing and reassessing EHCPs.

โœ… Every EHCP must be reviewed at least once every 12 months
โœ… Parents, young people, and schools can request a reassessment if needs have changed
โœ… You donโ€™t have to wait for the annual review if the plan is no longer working
โœ… Parents and young people must be consulted during any review or reassessment
โœ… For young people over 18, the LA must consider whether education or training outcomes have been achieved
Sometimes these are called interim or emergency reviews; they are an important right when things change.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The carousel explains what reviews and reassessments are, when they should happen, and what the law says.

If you are unsure whether to ask for a review or reassessment, or what to do if changes are not being made, our website offers clear guidance, useful resources, and easyโ€‘toโ€‘follow information to support you:
