Meet Max 💙

The handsome 2-year-old Rottweiler who’s been coming to see us for hydrotherapy swims for the past year!

Max visits us to support his joints and help manage his elbow dysplasia, and he takes his job very seriously—so seriously that he even brings his own buoyancy aid 🩵

Hydrotherapy is especially beneficial for larger breed dogs like Max. The warm water supports their weight, reducing pressure on joints while still allowing them to build strength, muscle tone, and mobility. It’s a low-impact way to stay active, improve comfort, and support long-term joint health—perfect for growing dogs, active dogs, and those with orthopaedic conditions.

Max is an absolute gentleman in the pool and a joy to work with every session. We’re so proud of how far he’s come and love being part of his journey 🐶

✨ Meet Snickers ✨

This gorgeous girl is Snickers, an 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel who comes to see us as part of her rehabilitation following spinal surgery.

Snickers began her hydrotherapy journey on the underwater treadmill, where we could carefully control her movement and support her recovery. She’s now progressed on to the pool, as this works better for her🌊

With any spinal patient, maintaining correct body alignment is essential. During swimming, it’s really important to keep the back straight and prevent twisting or turning. That’s why Snickers wears a buoyancy aid and is always closely supported by a qualified hydrotherapist throughout her session, ensuring her swim is both safe and effective.

We’re so proud of how far Snickers has come already and love being part of her recovery journey 💪🐶

Meet Monkey 🐒

The 10 year old dachshund who proves that age is just a number (and short legs are no obstacle 😉).

Monkey comes along for fun & fitness hydrotherapy sessions, where he builds strength, stays mobile, and most importantly has an absolute blast in the water.
This little guy gives 100% every time 🐕💙

Hydrotherapy isn’t just rehab—it’s a brilliant way for older dogs to stay active, happy, and feeling their best ✨

Go Monkey!

Hello and Welcome to South Coast Hydrotherapy School.

We are an ABC Awards approved training centre located on the Dorset, Hampshire border. We offer accredited canine courses and CPD that are delivered by highly qualified and experienced hydrotherapists, physiotherapists, behaviourists and veterinary surgeons.

We have strictly limited numbers on our courses as we believe in delivering quality not quantity and wish to maintain the friendly, personal touch and provide as much individual tuition to our learners as possible. In this way, we are able to guarantee a minimum of 40 hours practical hands on experience in the pool and treadmill, rather than just observing. We are also able to tailor our delivery of the curriculum to students individual needs.

The premises consist of a purpose built hydrotherapy unit with a larger than average teaching pool, a treadmill, new classroom complex with study resources, kitchen and rest rooms, and secure outdoor facilities for gait and behavioural observation.
