The SCM muscle is just one of the neck muscles hugely associated with head/face pain. Connects to the skull in behind the ear/jaw and then into the clavicle at the chest. Like many, in my case i get facial swelling too caused by inflammation. Tight compression in this area may cause pain in your
Face.
Forehead.
Eyes.
Cheek.
Ears.
Sinuses.
Throat
Shoulders.
Frequent headaches, ptosis, unexplained lacrimation and eye reddening, sinusitis and sore throat, ipsilateral ear popping sounds, balance problems, postural dizziness and lowered spatial awareness. Other symptoms of a condition affecting your SCM muscle include:
Headache.
Dizziness.
Vertigo.
Nausea.
Eye changes (droopy eyelid, red or watery eyes, blurred vision).
Neck stiffness (including trouble tilting or turning your head).
In amongst all of this you have fascia, nerves etc which is again a whole other story when adding to your pain and referring elsewhere.
Symptoms AND causes eased immensely with maxillofacial dry needling and i can now carry on with my day without 'pain relief' ππ«
