We often tend to feel ashamed of being called 'a people-pleaser' but what if it's just a survival strategy? What if it's actually a symptom or consequence of trauma? What if it's the best thing we could have done to stay in relationships? Yes, it has downsides. But we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves – we were doing the best we could to survive.
