The New Yoga 🧘‍♀️ 🐶

So most of my regular yogis know that I am taking a break from formally teaching classes. A full time job, teenagers going through their senior high school years and now, this little one, are keeping me very busy. But yoga is still part of my own daily routine, even if it is in my pjs in the chaos of the kitchen. Holly decided to join me on the mat this morning, firstly to use my beloved manduka as a chew toy and then to have a little nap. She’s tired herself out now perfectly demonstrating the restorative power of yoga 🧘‍♀️🥰

Mental Health Awareness Week 💖

To wrap up the week, I wanted to send special thanks to YogaB
I began my yoga practice with Bettine back in January and this has without a doubt been a major influence to help me come back stronger after a terrible bout of anxiety.

Her passion and knowledge shines through with each class and with her teachings - the body and mind finish each class more centered and more relaxed.

Anxiety and trauma are stored in our bodies - through heart palpitations to unsettled tummies. Listen to what your body is trying to tell you.
Movement is the key to shift and dispel this energy.

From Ouija Breath, Shoulder Stands, Savasana to Mudras - thank you for allowing me to meet another side of myself. 💖

Good Morning and a Happy New Year 🥳 it certainly looks as though we will be continuing with our online zoom yoga classes for the next few months. This block will continue to be a combination of restorative sessions based around the more gentle moon salutations to welcome the new year in softly. Towards the end of the block we will add in some very gentle sun salutations as we look towards spring, new beginnings and brighter days.

If you wish to join the online group practising with YogaB send me a message and I will give you further details.

Classes will resume on Tuesday 12th January at 6.30pm live with the option to catch up with the recorded version at a time that suits you.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on the YogaB page. This year has been a time of massive upheaval! Last November I went back to work full time for the first time in 16 years. I dropped from teaching five yoga classes a week to one. I went from primary school, where I have been working for 26 years, to High School. It was a shock both physically and mentally at first and I’d go as far as to say I was grieving for the loss of my little business that I had been building over the years. I missed my students and I missed my own personal practice 🧘‍♀️
Then Covid hit and more change! No more yoga classes. After being online all day I couldn’t face teaching a zoom yoga class at night. I knew I wouldn’t have the enthusiasm for it which wouldn’t be fair 😔
However, I’m loving my new role and it was the right thing to do for my family 💕 I’m also thoroughly enjoying my weekly zoom yoga class which I’m teaching at a much slower pace and just feels necessary right now.
Change will happen, whether we choose it or not. My life has changed, my yoga practice has changed. And this will continue. Saturday mornings are now my dedicated time for my own personal practice. It’s slower and a little stiffer 😂 I’m using props more and there are constant interruptions 😫 but it’s still there. My son has asked me several times what is the point of yoga, he would prefer a ‘get big muscles fast’ approach. It’s a fair and mighty question! The point for me is to connect your body and your mind, connect your breath, connect to your surroundings. Move, breathe, practice 💕
