π Meet the team! πΎ
Amy started working at AVPH last year and has been a perfect fit to our team! π
Amy is a Level 3 Canine Hydrotherapist and a member of CHA and IAAT. She is also a student member of the association of Merishia Massage Therapists.
Amy has always had a passion for animals and working in animal rehab, and has previously worked in equine rehab and training π΄
In her spare time, Amy loves going hiking with her Husky; with the Peak District and Lake District being their favourite areas to explore. Amy also enjoys paddleboarding (which her dog also enjoys! πΆ) and loves taking part in Canicross.
We are very lucky to have such an amazing and passionate team π

When it comes to hydrotherapy, more isnβt always better π§
Whether your dog is in the pool or on the underwater treadmill, session duration is carefully tailored to them, their condition, fitness level, and stage of rehabilitation.
Pushing for longer sessions might seem like faster progress, but fatigue can actually do the opposite. Tired muscles lose form, compensation patterns creep in, and the risk of soreness or injury increases.
Thatβs why we focus on quality over quantity:
βοΈ Short, controlled sessions
βοΈ Plenty of rest breaks
βοΈ Gradual progression over time
Especially for dogs recovering from injury or surgery, or those managing conditions like arthritis, the goal is to build strength safely (not exhaust them!)
Every session is monitored closely, watching for signs of fatigue like slowing pace, poor posture, or reduced engagement.
If youβre ever unsure about whatβs right for your dog, just ask! Weβre here to help guide you every step of the way π

Hoppy Easter from us to you! ππ£
These two little fluffballs are taking a well-earned break today from being AVPHs mascots π
Easter is a lovely time for treats and family moments, but donβt forget to keep chocolate and sugary goodies safely away from your furry friends πΆπ±π°
Wishing all our wonderful clients and their pets a happy Easter!

πΆ Meet Gretel - one of our smallest patients! πΆ
Gretel loves coming for physio and hydro at AVPH π
Gretel underwent IVDD surgery last year and was unable to walk for a couple of months. But with a lot of hard work from Gretel and her owner, she is back to living her full life π
However, she does unfortunately still have deficits in her gait and proprioception. So Gretel comes for maintenance physio and hydro sessions to help keep her as strong and comfortable as possible, and improve her longevity π

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that can affect dogs of any breed, age, or size π¦΄
Unfortunately, it is the most common cause of chronic pain in dogs, affecting around 80% of dogs over 8 years old and up to 35% of dogs of all ages (Canine Arthritis Management).
So how can we fix OA?
In short, osteoarthritis is a progressive and irreversible condition. However, with appropriate pain management and the integration of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and effective home management strategies, the progression of cartilage erosion can be slowed and a good quality of life maintained π
Importantly, the earlier osteoarthritic changes are identified and appropriately managed, the more effective these interventions can be in slowing disease progression and supporting long-term comfort and function.
Weβre proud to be a finalist in the South Norfolk Business Builder Exemplar, part of the Broadland & South Norfolk Business Awards 2026 π
Being recognised in this category means a lot to us. It's a true testament to all the hard work, dedication and passion of our incredible team π₯°
The awards ceremony is taking place on the 18th March and we can't wait to celebrate alongside the other wonderful local businesses β Wishing best of luck to all the finalists!
So proud of what we have achieved over the past year, and very grateful and honoured to have been nominated for this award π

πΆ Stella and Poppy thoroughly enjoyed their recent physio appointment πΆ
They are sisters who both unfortunately have spinal conditions and come for regular physiotherapy treatment to improve their quality of life and to help keep them as comfortable as possible.
They are the sweetest pugs and often fall asleep on each other during their treatment π€
