🚣♀️ Exciting News! 🚣♂️
On 17th July 2024, a dedicated team from Softcat Services, including our amazing director Funke Ajenifuja, will be taking on the Oarsome Challenge! We'll be rowing 16 miles on the Thames, from Greenwich to Chiswick, to raise funds for London Youth Rowing (LYR), a charity that empowers young people through rowing programs.
Your donation can make a real difference by providing underprivileged youth with the chance to engage in a healthy and positive activity, building their confidence and essential life skills.
We're all complete rowing novices, but we're thrilled about the challenge and eager to support this brilliant cause!
Founded by Jim Downing in 2004, LYR aims to make rowing accessible to young people across London, transforming it from a traditionally niche sport into one that fosters diversity and inclusion. From its humble beginnings as 'Row East London,' LYR has grown significantly, now employing nine full-time coaches and multiple part-time staff, working with around 5,000 young people in 120 partner schools and youth clubs nationwide.
LYR's Mission:
Encourage disadvantaged young people to stay active and improve their physical, social, and mental wellbeing
Develop crucial life skills necessary for success in school and work
Enable young people from all backgrounds to participate in rowing, both indoor and on-water, across London
Foster determination and success in the next generation of rowers
