Hello, I'm Rosie and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults and children and young people from the age of 5 years. I believe that we all have the ability to grow, heal and change, regardless of what we have experienced in life. I am committed to providing psychotherapeutic counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, where you can feel supported, listened to and accepted. I believe that everyone is unique and that people are diverse and complex. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting, supportive and caring therapeutic relationship with you in order to create a firm foundation for the work we will do together. I believe that because of our uniqueness, there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. I therefore draw from a range of theories and techniques including person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. I offer short term and open ended counselling, working alongside you at your own pace, in order to support you to uncover the root of your issues and make the changes you require in your life. I have over 20 years experience of working with children and young people and offer counselling for a wide range of issues, from the ages of 5 upwards. I offer shorter sessions for young children, where we can draw, colour and do arts and crafts, whilst we talk.

Having had friends and family suffer from Chronic Fatigue, I have seen firsthand how debilitating it can be and how it can affect a person’s daily life.

It is a complex condition that can affect the whole body, causing pain and extreme fatigue, that does not get better with rest.

Having someone to talk to is so important and can help CFS sufferers to manage their symptoms better.

Self-care is so important - you cannot look after others if you don't take care of yourself.

In the aeroplane safety speech, cabin crew always tell you to put your oxygen mask on before helping others - you can't help others, if you can't breathe yourself!

We all have days like this.
Sometimes we have whole periods of time like this.
When you have a lot on your mind, it can help to do a "mind dump"—write down every task, worry, and thought to clear your mental space. Set aside 10-15 minutes of "worry time" daily to address these, try deep breathing exercises, and take short, physical breaks to de-stress and refocus.

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you.

There are five key elements to EI: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

People with high EI can identify how they are feeling, what those feelings mean, and how those emotions impact their behaviour and in turn, other people.

It’s a little harder to “manage” the emotions of other people - you can’t control how someone else feels or behaves. But if you can identify the emotions behind their behaviour, you’ll have a better understanding of where they are coming from and how to best interact with them.

Self-care means taking care of yourself, so that you can be healthy, you can be well, you can do your job, you can help and care for others, and you can do all the things you need to, and want to, accomplish in a day.

It is most definitely NOT selfish or self-indulgent. It is necessary in order for you to be able to function to the best of your ability.

If you were raised by an emotionally “needy” parent, you probably didn’t get the parent you needed growing up.

Maybe your parent lived with mental illness that didn’t leave them with enough emotional space to be there for you.

Maybe your parent was narcissistic, and you learned no one’s needs mattered except theirs.

Or maybe your parent really struggled with emotional dysregulation, and you often weren’t sure if you were going to be given a hug or yelled at.

Though growing up with an emotionally fragile or “needy” parent doesn’t automatically mean a parent is abusive, these parents can end up emotionally abusing their kids by neglecting their child’s needs.

Because of this, it’s important to talk about the impact and the trauma that you suffered. This can, in time, help you to heal.

Mental health is a fundamental component of our overall well-being, as essential as our physical health, yet it is frequently misunderstood, overlooked, or stigmatised.

It exists on a continuum, affecting how we think, feel, act, and cope with life's challenges.

Proactively managing mental well-being is crucial for daily function and long-term health, as it is intimately connected to physical health.
