Hello, I'm Rosie and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults and children and young people from the age of 5 years. I believe that we all have the ability to grow, heal and change, regardless of what we have experienced in life. I am committed to providing psychotherapeutic counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, where you can feel supported, listened to and accepted. I believe that everyone is unique and that people are diverse and complex. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting, supportive and caring therapeutic relationship with you in order to create a firm foundation for the work we will do together. I believe that because of our uniqueness, there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. I therefore draw from a range of theories and techniques including person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. I offer short term and open ended counselling, working alongside you at your own pace, in order to support you to uncover the root of your issues and make the changes you require in your life. I have over 20 years experience of working with children and young people and offer counselling for a wide range of issues, from the ages of 5 upwards. I offer shorter sessions for young children, where we can draw, colour and do arts and crafts, whilst we talk.

Why do counsellors often suggest that we should journal?

Therapeutic journaling is the process of writing down our thoughts and feelings about our personal experiences.

It differs from more traditional diary writing, which involves recording the details of daily events. In contrast, therapeutic journaling is an internal process of using the written word to express the full range of emotions, reactions, and perceptions we have related to difficult, upsetting, or traumatic life events.

Along the way, this can mean writing ourselves to better emotional and physical health, a deeper understanding of ourselves and a greater sense of well-being.

Us humans seem to have an almost instinctive nature to hold on to things, people, ideas, ideals, etc… it's almost as if we are scared of change and what letting go may mean.

But by refusing to let go, we dig ourselves into this small sort of rut and limit all of the possibilities that life can provide. Instead of growing, learning and changing, we stay stuck in that rut, repeating the same things over and over and over.

But, there is a way out.

In Autumn trees have to let go of their leaves, so that they can retreat and reset and ready themselves for Spring.

So can we not do the same?

By letting go of things we no longer need, ideals that no longer work, people who are hurting us, thoughts that are bringing us down, ways of living that are harming not healing, we are trusting that good things will come, better times will arrive. 🍁

October is World Menopause Awareness Month.

Menopause can have a significant impact on mental health and can cause anxiety, depression, irritability and anger, brain fog, low mood, loss of confidence, loss of self-esteem, mood swings... to name but a few.

These symptoms can be caused by hormonal changes during menopause, which can also affect serotonin, a brain chemical that promotes feelings of well-being.

Looking after yourself and reaching out for support and help if you need it, is therefore paramount. 😊💚
