So often, we say “I’m not tense” — but our body tells a different story.
In this video, I share a quick breathing technique I use at the start of my massages to check if the tension is real stress or just a habit your body’s learned over time.
It’s simple, eye-opening, and might just change the way you feel your own body.

Everytime someone comes to see me with stress and says:" I'm like that for a month now"
I think of this story.... about two monks, one older and one younger.
They come to a river where a woman is struggling to cross.
The older monk, despite his vow never to touch women, picks her up and carries her safely to the other side.

Hours later, the younger monk can’t stop thinking about it.
Finally, he asks, “Why did you do that? We’re not supposed to touch women.”
The older monk simply replies,
“I set her down hours ago. Why are you still carrying her?”

I love this story — because it says everything about stress.
So often, the situation itself is short — a moment, a conversation, a problem we deal with.
But our minds keep carrying it.
We replay it, talk about it to friends and family , post about it on social media and read all the comments for hours after,
and before we know it — it’s still with us hours, days, even weeks later.

It’s not the moment that drains us —
it’s the holding on.

What if we just handled the situation… and then gently put it down?
What if we stopped carrying every little worry in our shoulders, in our jaw, in our chest?

Next time you feel that stress rising,
ask yourself:
Am I still carrying something that’s already over?

Take a breath.
Let it go.

💭 Today’s awareness question:
What are you still carrying that’s already over?

I get this question a lot — especially from new clients right after their first massage.

They ask:
“Is this the right one I booked? Should I always go for this type?”

Here’s the thing — when you book with an independent massage therapist, you don’t need to stress about choosing the “perfect” treatment from a list.

All you really need to know is why you’re coming.

🌿 Do you want to relax?
🌿 Is your neck stiff again?
🌿 Has your lower back been aching for months?
🌿 Do you feel tense but don’t even know where anymore?

That’s it.

It’s our job as therapists to take your reason for coming and choose the right techniques for your body, your tension, your moment.

So honestly?
Don’t overthink the names.
Don’t worry if you picked Swedish or Deep Tissue.

Just book something… and tell us what’s going on.
We’ll handle the rest. 💆‍♀️

A few days ago, I had a chat with one of my clients — she’s a GP.
And she said:

“So many people come to me for medication, but I wish I could prescribe a pill called massage. You’d take it once a month… and it would help with so many issues.
But everyone just wants a quick fix.
There’s no time for anything anymore.
And I see younger and younger patients in my clinic with mind and body issues they shouldn’t have until they’re over 50.”

And honestly — she’s right.
Not everyone realises that massage is like a secret dose of wellbeing.

We live in a world where we treat massage like a luxury —
something we “treat ourselves to” for a birthday,
or only when we can’t move our neck anymore.

But what if massage was your prevention pill?
Something you take before things get bad.

Because so many of the things people go to their GP for —
💆‍♀️ tension headaches
🧘‍♀️ stress and anxiety
💤 poor sleep
💪 tight shoulders or back pain —
come from one simple thing: the body being stuck in stress mode for too long.

Massage isn’t just about muscles.
It’s how we reset the whole system.
It calms the nervous system, improves circulation, softens tension —
and gives you space to just breathe.

So when people ask me,
“Do you take any supplements?”

I usually smile and say,
“Yes. I take my monthly massage.”

💭 Today’s reflection:
If you had a jar of Massage Pills in your cupboard…
what would the label say?
“Helps with…” what?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
Maybe it’s the season — October always brings that shift.
People start feeling lower, heavier… like everything suddenly asks for more energy than we actually have.

And I see it in so many of you who come to me.
Pain showing up again.
Anxiety creeping in.
That feeling of “I’m trying so hard to stay calm, but my body won’t let me.”

So where do we actually find strength when we don’t feel strong?

For me, strength isn’t about pushing through or pretending we’re fine.
It’s about listening.
Because our body — it really does talk to us.
Pain, anxiety, tension… they’re not here to punish us.
They’re trying to say, “Hey… something needs your care.”

And sometimes it’s not even physical.
We just feel it in our body.

✅️ The stomach — when we can’t “digest” what’s going on in life.
✅️The chest — when emotions are stuck and breathing feels hard.
✅️ The shoulders — when we’re carrying too much.
✅️ The jaw — when we hold back what we really want to say.
✅️The lower back — when we don’t feel supported or safe.

It’s not random.
Our body remembers every moment we didn’t have time to process.

So when you feel pain or anxiety — maybe start there.
Don’t rush to get rid of it.
Pause.
Ask your body: what are you trying to tell me?

Sometimes the answer comes as a memory, sometimes as a breath, sometimes as a quiet “I need rest.”

That’s where strength begins — not in forcing, but in softening.

So tonight, before bed, try this:
Put one hand on the place where you feel tension.
Take a slow breath.
Say quietly to yourself: “I hear you. It’s safe now.”

It sounds simple, but awareness really is where healing starts. 💚

We usually think it’s just part of being tired, busy, or focused.
But often, it’s our body’s way of whispering:
“I’ve had enough.”

For me, tension shows up in my face.
During one of my massage trainings in 2019, someone took a photo of me while I was working —
and I couldn’t believe how much I was tensing my face.
My jaw, my eyes, my forehead… everything was tight.
I looked like I was holding everything in.

That photo made me realise how much tension I carry when I focus.
Over time, it showed up as headaches, sinus pressure, even allergy flare-ups.

Once, a teacher told me:
“You seem like someone who senses too much.”
Maybe that’s true — some of us are always “on,”
reading the room, feeling what’s coming, protecting ourselves.

Our bodies hold that alertness.
But sometimes, they just need to know it’s okay to relax.

💭 We all hold tension somewhere:
✅ Jaw — words we never said.
✅ Shoulders — the weight we carry.
✅ Hips — emotions we didn’t release.
✅ Stomach — the anxiety we keep digesting.

The body remembers everything — even what the mind tries to forget.

Now, when I catch myself tightening my face, I pause.
I take a slow breath, soften my jaw, my eyes, my forehead.
It’s simple — but it’s awareness.
And little by little, I notice the difference.

So today I want to ask you:
✨ Where do you hold your tension?
✨ And what might your body be trying to protect you from?

“Tension is not weakness — it’s protection.
Awareness is how we thank the body and tell it, ‘It’s safe now.’” 🌿

That’s it for today, my friends.
Let’s meet again soon — for a little more awareness. 💚

So yesterday I started this “Time of Awareness.”
And honestly… I keep thinking — we all just want to feel good, right?
Healthy, calm, strong — both in our body and mind.
But then… life happens.
Work, family, pressure, too much on our plates.
And before we even notice, there’s stress, tension, pain… sometimes even an injury.

And I always wonder — why?
Why do we have to go through all that?
Why can’t life just flow smoothly?

I still remember back in 2009 — I was completely fine.
Healthy, full of energy, not really sure where my life was going, but it was okay.
And then one day — boom. Shoulder pain.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know that story.
At first, I thought, “Oh no, this is bad.”
But now I see that pain was actually the beginning of everything that brought me here —
to massage, to awareness, to helping women reconnect with their bodies and their breath.

So I’m starting to believe that maybe stress, pain, or tension show up for a reason.
Maybe they’re not there to punish us…
❤️Maybe they’re trying to guide us.
To stop us for a moment.
To make us listen.
To show us a new direction we wouldn’t see otherwise.

Have you ever had something like that?
Something that felt so unfair, painful, or heavy at the time —
but later, when you looked back, you realised it actually helped you?
Maybe it made you slow down, look at your life differently, or choose a path you’d never have considered before.

That’s what I’d like to leave you with today.....a question to ask yourself:

💭 “When did I feel mental, physical, or emotional pain… and where did it lead me?”

🌿 “Sometimes awareness begins with discomfort.
It’s the body and mind showing you the way home.” 🌿

That’s it for today, my friends.
Let’s meet again tomorrow — for a little more awareness. 💚
