✨ From one small hall to millions of lives changed… ✨

Slimming World began in 1969, when Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE opened the very first group in a church hall in Alfreton, Derbyshire BBC +1. Margaret knew from her own experience that losing weight wasn’t just about food—it was about support, kindness, and belief. She wanted to create a place where no one felt judged, only encouraged.

From that single hall, Slimming World grew into a nationwide family of over 3,500 Consultants and 700,000 members Sky News +3.

Margaret always believed that weight loss should be freeing, not restrictive. She wanted us to keep pioneering, to keep finding new ways to support people, and to never lose sight of the belief that everyone deserves to feel healthy, confident, and celebrated.

Today, every leaflet delivered, every poster hung, and every group meeting held is part of Margaret’s legacy. She asked us to carry her vision forward: to keep building communities of support, to keep innovating, and to keep believing in the power of weight loss to transform lives.
