Back in September. We got a call for help from a veteran struggling with life. He had attempted su***de after a domestic issue. I traveled up the Cambridge to pick him up from a campsite he was staying on, and brought him back down to Cornwall.
Not even 24hrs later. He left a note. Stating the worst case scenario.
So police , coastguard were notified, a Becon alert issued, and the search began along north Cornwall’s rugged coastline for signs of our veteran. It was a trying time, especially as I knew this man personally from my time in the Queens Regiment. At this time. He saw no way out of the struggles he was having within, and the only way out was to end it all. But you need to ask yourself this question!
“Do you want to end it for just one day! Or permanently? In this case it was an overload of emotions and the brain couldn’t handle it. So it sends it down to our gut. Where there Anxiety sets in.
I’m happy to inform you all. This chap has gone though it, and came out the other side.
We re-homed him yesterday, and with our network of friends and supporters. We have set him up with furniture food, bedding and clothes. He has a good job starting in January.
He is in a much better place now, from when I first picked him up, back in September.
He has endured the harsh realities of life in our Cornish veterans retreat. Wind, rain, and flooding. A good deterrent I think, to keep the demons away. Well done Mukku so very happy you’re still with us. 👍😉
