With great sadness last week, we closed our care home. After 27 years of serving our local community, we took stock as family having lost our youngest son in November, we felt now is time for us to move on to the next chapter of our lives. The decision was not easy one but was one necessary. In closing our home ALL our former residents have been relocated by into care settling that meet both their desires and needs. We are so grateful for our staff who have over the last four weeks have continued care to highest standard. We will take away some many amazing memories of families, residents and staff that made Eirenikon Park such unique place

You Tube can be a great tool for doing reminiscence chats with our residents, The sound and sight of Massey Ferguson T20 Tractor in action we found on You Tube really delighted one of our newest residents. It was the sound of engine that engaged him. This experience prompted him to explain in detail how he self-serviced it on his farm. At Eirenikon we really know residents as individuals and value their life experiences. The modern cult of youth in our society all too often fails to recognise that the elderly as a repository of wisdom.

Here’s Cheeky Boo who is a occasional visitor to Eirenikon Park. Yes we have dogs which we have found crucial to lives of residents and staff a like. We have been registered with Cinnamon Trust for over 10 years, who describe us as follows "The owners clearly adore pets, having several of their own. Currently resident at Eirenikon Park is a Shih Tzu who is a lively little dog who is much loved by all. Other dogs also visit on a regular basis to sit and cuddle with the residents, All pets would be considered subject to discussion and staff would help with pet care as required. Pets are welcome to use the communal grounds and gardens, though dogs would need to be kept on a lead as the grounds are not secure. Eirenikon Park is a family run home and this really shines through; they truly understand what it means to love a pet, and animals are definitely considered to be part of the family."

Thanks Aimee & Abbie for your craft activities with residents this week. It great that you offered options to all the residents so all could be involved irrespective of their skill levels. The residents are loving it and are still working on them even today. The glitter and painting process is now in full swing….

Just another one of Chef Ralph's creations for the residents - homemade Belgian Chocolate Profiteroles. One of many unique aspects at Eirenikon Park Residential Home is that most of our food delights are made on site. That we tailor food and drinks for every resident that they not only like but also support their specific dietary / health needs
