“I think it is amazing what CCFTV are doing for people in this situation and the programme last night was an eye opener, and made me realise I am not alone.
My Husband was removed from an acute hospital bed after 5mths on an acute ward, but another 5months on previous wards. left in a bed, now unable to walk and lacking capacity so sent to a care home against his will, and a care home not fit for purpose.
Because of the reasons above DoLS was put in place because my Husband objected to the placement, the court of protection started due to not having POA.
I complained about the conditions of the home, poor quality of food or lack of, not food choice, no menus, food unrecognisable, food always cold, being given left behind clothes and bedding. Very poor standards.
But you complain to protect your loved one and you receive an eviction notice.
The authorities placed my husband in this care home without checking and should have a duty of care but they washed their hands of the situation, seems the private sector can do what they want as long as they have control and behind closed doors. and getting paid by the authorities or relatives, the relatives don't know where to turn.
I was ordered by the court of protection to find a new care home for my husband, most of these homes are just interested in getting the funding and not the person as they don't assess, all done over the phone.
Husband now in another care home, couldn't be more different, more like a five star hotel, with trained staff, nurses on duty, and choice of meals and menus for all, nothing too much trouble.
This is how all care homes should be run, with care and compassion
CCFTV, your heroes for the work you do as it is not easy to find the help and support we all need in this environment.”
