Empowered Pause™ – Exercise, Movement & Menopause 💬💪
This Thursday we held our second Empowered Pause™ meet-up. We are so lucky to have Amantha leading these sessions for us 🤍 🌿
Following requests from our first session, this month’s theme was Exercise and Movement. We started with the brilliant poem “An Ode to Menopause” by (well worth a read if you come across it 📖✨)
We had a really open chat about what makes it harder to get moving, what helps, and why movement doesn’t have to mean a full-on gym session. Things like marching while the kettle’s on ☕🚶♀️ or taking the stairs instead of the lift can make a real difference over time.
We touched on the difference between cardio 🏃♀️ and strength training 🏋️, and worked out how to find our ideal heart rate zones ❤️🔥, whether we’re just starting out or a bit more active.
There were even a few laughs around the idea that we might benefit from keeping our mouths shut while exercising - who knew?! 😂
As people shared their experiences, a couple of great local places came up:
📍 (Mid Devon Leisure Centre) – where some have found excellent support from menopause-trained coaches; Monika and Colin.
📍The Shed fitness and coaching – mentioned for its welcoming feel and understanding owner Laura.
We also flicked through Lavina Mehta’s new book “The Feel Good Fix” 📘 - packed with short, manageable workouts under 11 minutes. Highly recommended by Amantha. (Two copies still available - if you’re quick!)
👉 The takeaway? It’s not about doing loads - it’s about doing something, and doing it regularly. Small steps count. 👣
📅 Next session: Wednesday 16th July
🌸 Theme: Hormonal Health
