“Its groundbreaking report on those findings — which consists of a “state of the science” monograph and meta-analysis surveying the literature on the links between fluoride exposure and cognitive health effects — concluded that prenatal and childhood exposure to higher levels of fluoride is associated with decreased IQ in children. It also found that given that children are exposed to fluoride from multiple sources, there was “no obvious threshold” at which fluoridating water would be safe. That means even when water is fluoridated at lower levels (typically 0.7 mg/L), studies found children had dangerous levels of fluoride in their systems. The study’s findings contradict mainstream assumptions, the position of the dental industry, the sugar industry and the health regulatory agencies on the safety and benefits of fluoridating water to prevent cavities, despite substantial evidence to the contrary, including a series of studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).”

California’s dental director and his team of researchers intentionally omitted data from a study seeking to undermine the forthcoming National Toxicology Program report linking fluoride exposure to neurodevelopmental damage in children, according to documents released last week.

Moving around improves lifespan, immunity, cognition, mental health and arterial health. I’m not a great fan of carrying my phone everywhere to count steps, so if you are in a job where you have to sit down a lot, try to go for a 30-60 minute walk every day. We should all be getting out into daylight anyway, as it improves sleep, mood and immunity too.

How many steps should I walk per day to stay healthy? This video will summarize the major health benefits of daily walking and how many steps you need to max...

Just wanted to share the nice feedback a lady left about our menopause event today (You have to click on the post to see comments). All the practitioners gave such great talks - a really informative day - and the people attending were lovely. I learned a lot. The atmosphere of the event felt warm, open and safe. Hopefully we’ll have another one for people who couldn’t get tickets as it was fully booked.

Fabulous turnout at our Menopause event today!

All the little things make a big difference. I advise 30 different natural plant foods per week to help improve gut health, and that can include nuts/legumes (if you can tolerate then) and herbs and spices too. Feed not just yourself, but your gut bacteria too!

Adding a daily ounce of peanuts or about a teaspoon of herbs and spices to your diet may affect the composition of gut bacteria, an indicator of overall health, according to new research. In two separate studies, nutritional scientists studied the effects of small changes to the average American diet and found improvements to the gut microbiome.

- Be the best possible you -

I became interested in nutrition after giving birth to my second daughter. She was born with a chromosomal disorder (Pallister Killian Syndrome), and a raft of symptoms that increased with her age (nervous tics, anxiety, aggressive outbursts, throat swelling, stomach pain, restless legs, and hidradenitis suppurativa - extremely painful, chronic abscesses), making life difficult for her. The persistent stress also had a knock-effect on my mental and physical wellbeing. Initially, I sought answers through traditional medicine, but when that didn’t help, I began to seek solutions through dietary and lifestyle changes instead.

If you’ve ever tried to research diet for health, it’s not as simple as you’d think. The more you try to learn, the less you feel you know. Trying to find out the best ways to deal with my daughter’s ill-health, I became increasingly confused by a labyrinth of (often contradictory) nutritional research. As a solution, I employed the help of a nutritional therapist, which made life a whole lot easier. I began to see huge improvements in both my own and my daughter’s health.

What nutritional therapy did for my daughter:

  • Elimination of her behavioural problems and restless legs.
