Whilst in a normal year, there are several events held in the village, there are two major events during the summer: the Tomintoul Motorcycle Gathering and the Tomintoul Highland Games.

The first of those events was held in glorious weather last weekend, and seems to have been a great success with lots of riders, and visitors enjoying the rideout and great displays in the village square.

Next up though is the Games, to be held this weekend. Starting with a procession of pipe bands along the Main Street, before heading to the games field for the traditional events and dancing. After the Games, there will be a fancy dress competition for the kids in the village square, before the evening dance kicks off in the Tomintoul Richmond Memorial Hall.

We'd like to thank everyone who came to the VE Day Celebration Tea earlier this month, and especially those who donated - your kind donations helped us raise £381. After covering some costs, we've donated £301.04 to the Royal British Legion as they felt like an appropriate charity to benefit.

Again, a big thanks to all the helpers, those who donated food and of course, everyone who visited!

Well, we had a great time at the VE Celebration Tea yesterday - even though the weather was gorgeous outside, lots of people came along to support.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help whether that was setting up, preparing or serving food and drinks, or donating sandwiches, buns and cakes which were all delicious - we couldn't have done this without the huge amount of help from the community - I hope people don't mind me not trying to name everyone, but I'd only miss someone but everyone's help was really appreciated.

Would anyone be able to volunteer to help us setup and tidy up before and after the VE Day Celebration Tea?

Times would be 4.30-5.30ish on Friday 9th and about 4.15-5.30ish on the 10th?

We're looking for 2 or 3 people for one or both of the slots if possible - if you can help, drop us a message or reply below.

Next up, have you ever wondered who helps run the hall and what they do? We've put together a page listing the office bearers, what their roles are, and their contact details. The page also lists the current trustees. Have a look at

The hall's committee manages the hall on a day to day basis, whilst our trustees ensure the hall runs for the benefit of the community.

Next of our posts looking at what you can find on our website.

We've got several local groups and clubs that run regular sessions in the hall - whether that's the local toddlers group, or a more energetic badminton session (is that really more energetic than looking after toddlers?)

For info on some of the groups, when they run, associated costs etc. have a look at

Clubs and GroupsWe have a number of local clubs, groups and associations that use the all. If you're local and interested, feel free to reach out to the contacts listed below. Tomintoul Toddlers Indoor Bowls Badminton Qi Gong KaTCA Tomintoul ToddlersContact: Our pageTime: Tuesday, 9.15-11am...
