Something loud, weird, and wonderful is coming to Tomintoul as part of the Tomintoul250 celebrations… πŸͺ—πŸ”₯

You might never have heard anything like this.
Scottish tradition? Yes.
Heavy metal? Somehow, also yes.
Gaelic songs, punk energy, and pure anarchy?

Full details dropping soon.
But if you like your live music dangerously fun… you might want to keep your diary clear. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚑

Only a week until our exploration of the with Merryn Glover. Join us in the Tomintoul Richmond Memorial Hall to hear more about this wonderful book. Glenlivet Estate Head Ranger will give a short introductory presentation highlighting the joys of accessing the Cairngorms plateau from

As if that wasn't enough - the first thirty people through the door will get a free lunch from the Whisky Castle/Highland Market.

Merryn Glover is the award-winning author of fiction, drama, poetry and journalism. In a life spent crossing cultures, she was brought up in South Asia, went to University in Australia and has called Scotland home for 30 years. Her first novel, A House Called Askival is set in an Indian hill-station, where she went to school, and her second, Of Stone and Sky, in the Badenoch region of the Cairngorms National Park where she now lives. It won Book of the Year at the Bookmark Festival, Blairgowrie, and was long-listed for the Highland Book Prize. In 2019, Merryn was the first Writer in Residence for the Cairngorms National Park and is a regular contributor to the Guardian Country Diary. The Memorial Hall has been providing a space for the local community for nearly 100 years – imagine how many club meetings, birthdays, wedding celebrations or school PE lessons have taken place in that time!

But did you know:
β€’ We are a non-profit organisation, all funds are used to maintain the hall!
β€’ Recent replacement of the fire alarms cost nearly Β£8000!
β€’ We want to refurbish the floors, but that will cost us more than Β£6000.
β€’ The committee are all volunteers, none of them take a salary.
β€’ We receive no external funding from the Council or Government.
β€’ The only funds we receive are hire fees and donations.

If you’ve attended an event here and enjoyed visting the hall, or would like to help, please would you consider making either a one-off or even a regular donation via our GiveALittle website:

We'd be extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how small.
