🦌 Meet the Charging Deer

If the Deer form is playful and exploratory, the Charging Deer turns up the energy.

More power, more momentum and even more work for your spine and coordination as you drive through the movement with intention.

In Qigong we work with the seasons, and spring is the time to build energy, not conserve it. The Charging Deer embodies exactly that a burst of vital, forward-moving force.

Over the coming weeks we’ll layer this alongside the Deer form, building a spring practice that really wakes up the body.

My spring Qigong course starts 22nd April, sign up via the link in my bio 🌿

Running on fumes but telling yourself to push through?

From the outside, my corporate career in London looked successful. Inside, I was exhausted, fuelled by caffeine, constant stress, and disrupted sleep. I was living in survival mode.

I thought I just needed to be more efficient. I was wrong.

A conversation I once had with a journalist has stayed with me. She told me she felt deep guilt every time she rested. It took two cancer diagnoses for her to finally stop and allow herself to rest without guilt.

That story inspired my latest blog.

I explore why rest is not a reward, but a necessity for recovery and wellbeing:

🌿 4 spaces remain for my Spring Retreat on Saturday 25th April, 2–5pm in Chiddingstone Causeway. A nurturing afternoon to rest and restore, message me for details.

💛 Have you ever struggled to give yourself permission to rest?

🦌 Meet the Deer, your new spring Qigong form

Spring in Qigong is all about the liver and gallbladder meridians, the energy pathways that govern renewal, growth, and the ability to adapt and move forward.

And the Deer form is the perfect embodiment of that.
Playful, spirited, and surprisingly good for your coordination, it’s full of twists and spinal movements that help to release tension you might not even know you’re holding.

Each term I introduce new forms and over the coming weeks we’ll build and refine the Deer together — layering in awareness, breath, and flow until it feels completely natural in your body.

This is what I love about Qigong. You’re not just moving, you’re learning a living language of energy that shifts with the seasons.

My spring Qigong course starts Wednesday 22nd April, 7.30pm, Hildenborough Village Hall, if you’d like to join us, sign up via the link in my bio 🌿

Save this if you want to explore Qigong with the seasons 🌸

Come and join me for a 45min Yoga & Qigong class Sunday 17th May at 1.30pm in the Wellbeing Village, Knockholt, Sevenoaks! 🌿

Never heard of Qigong? Think of it as movement with a bit of magic, gentle, flowing and good fun. No experience needed, no special kit required. Just turn up and give it a go.

I’ll be offering options throughout. If you’re a complete beginner or a regular mover, there’s something for you.

If you’re bringing a yoga mat, we’re happy to store it in the Wellbeing Village while you’re off eating all the good stuff.

The classes are free, though donations to Great Ormond Street Hospital are very welcome and very gratefully received.

See you there!

Your desk is rounding your shoulders. This undoes it.
Roll up your yoga mat, lie back, and let gravity do the work.

Two to four minutes. No flexibility needed.

This is one of my favourite ways to end the day, a gentle chest and shoulder opener that counteracts all those hours leaning forward at a screen.

You’ll need: a rolled mat, a towel for your head, and a few quiet minutes.

If you want more of this, I teach Yin & Yoga Nidra every Tuesday at 7.30pm at Hildenborough Village Hall.

Hello,

I thought it was time to reintroduce myself 😊

I'm Candice, Yoga & Qigong (means energy practice) teacher.

I've been in Tonbridge since 2019, the year my daughter arrived!

My yoga classes are slow, gentle and designed for the nervous system, specifically for people who are depleted, exhausted, and running on empty. I know that place well. I spent years burnt out, in chronic back pain, terrible sleep, permanently wired but tired.

Yoga and Qigong changed everything and I am now helping others find that same ease.

A few fun things you about me:

✅ I once sank a boat mid-race
✅ I walked 100km along the Thames in 24 hours for a charity
✅ I trekked 3 weeks in total wilderness in Patagonia

I run weekly classes in Tonbridge, private sessions, and retreats. I also work with organisations on staff wellbeing.

If any of this resonates, ping me a message or share a comment.

Straight lines meet soft circles. ✨

Yoga gives us structure: strong shapes, clear direction.

Qigong brings flow: circular, yielding, alive.

When you combine them, something shifts.

The body finds a balance it didn’t know it was missing.

This sequence moves through Crane, Warrior 1 & 2, and White Monkey Offers Fruits, Pushing mountains.

Save this if you’re curious about Qigong, or want to explore what it feels like to move differently.

Your core does more than you think 🌿

It supports your spine, your posture and your nervous system.

In this flow we mobilise the core, move through a Qigong sequence opening and closing the gate, then finish with a stretch. Gentle, intentional, effective.
This is the kind of movement your body is asking for.

💾 Save this when you need a grounding reset.

Still awake at 3am? Try this

If you've found yourself staring at the ceiling lately, this one is for you.

Yoga Nidra (sometimes called yogic sleep) is a guided practice where you lie completely still while being led through a body scan and breath awareness. It helps you access a deeply restful state where your nervous system resets and your immune system restores.

You don't need any experience. You simply need to lie down and listen.
Here's a simple practice to try tonight:

Lie down comfortably and close your eyes
Slowly move your awareness through each part of your body, from toes to head
If thoughts arise, gently return your attention to the body scan
Repeat as many times as needed

Even if you don't fall asleep during the practice, most people find the quality of their sleep improves noticeably.

If you'd like a guided version, my free 3-Day Nervous System Reset includes a 15-minute Yoga Nidra practice, a gentle place to begin.

I explore Yoga Nidra and other tools for better sleep in my blog: https://www.candiceyoga.co.uk/post/when-your-mind-wont-switch-off

💙 Have you tried Yoga Nidra before? What was your experience?

In Qigong, we move with the seasons, not against them 🌿

This week brings the Turtle form to rest, as we close this phase with a short, flowing sequence.

After Easter, a new energy arrives… the graceful Deer form 🦌

If you’re local to Tonbridge and this resonates, I teach a gentle yoga–Qigong blend that’s completely beginner-friendly:

📍 Tuesdays & Fridays 9:30am, Tonbridge
📍 Wednesdays 7:30pm, Hildenborough Village Hall

Classes pause over Easter and restart shortly after.

✨ Ready to move like a deer?
