Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, and early detection can make a real difference.

I’m very grateful to the Tonbridge Lions Club, who continue to play such an important role in our community, for organising free PSA screening for men aged 40–80.

The screening will take place on Saturday 16th May at the Angel Leisure Centre.

If you’re eligible, I would strongly encourage you to consider booking a slot. And if you have a partner, friend or family member who might benefit, please do share this with them.

Looking after your health isn’t always easy to prioritise, but opportunities like this can make it that bit simpler.

On a fine but slightly chilly afternoon, over 30 senior citizens enjoyed a delightful spring drive through the beautiful Kent countryside, organised by the Rotary Club of Tonbridge. 🌼🚗

The afternoon continued at Tonbridge Methodist Church hall with tea, scones, and wonderful entertainment from the Hazel Street Irregulars, whose mix of traditional English music, blues, and jazz had everyone smiling. 🎶☕

There was plenty of laughter, conversation, and catching up before our guests were safely escorted home by our dedicated team of volunteers.

A much-loved and longstanding event in our calendar, it remains as popular as ever. A heartfelt thank you to all escorts, chauffeurs, and to Rotarian Chris Parker and her team for the delicious refreshments.

We’re also pleased to share that an impromptu collection raised £58 for the homeless charity Porchlight. 💙

We are very proud that our director Chris Parker was a founder of this college and wrote all of the original training manuals. Matt Gallagher was a close friend of ours and Chris set up this award in his memory in her last year as college principal.

Welcome to the first in our ‘Meet our Finalists’ series.
Finalists are shared in no particular order. The winner of the Matthew Gallagher Student of the Year Award will be presented on 9th May at our Awards Day in Putteridge Bury, Luton.

First up is Leon Chapman from Crescent Funeral Services in Taunton.
Leon has been with Crescent for 3 years, a company where every single staff member has been or is currently training with the college.
Leon has completed his Foundation and Health & Safety Certificates with the college and is soon to begin his Operative course.

Congratulations Leon

Members from across the UK are gathering today for the SAIF AGM Weekend – an important opportunity to come together as a profession.

Across the weekend, members will take part in education sessions, share ideas, and connect with colleagues from across the country, all while helping to shape the future direction of the association.

The AGM provides a key moment to reflect on the year gone by, discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead, and ensure members’ voices are heard.

We look forward to a productive and engaging weekend, and to welcoming members old and new.
