Remember…. They are so good at helping us relax, just spending some time with them, we relax, we co-regulate and they bring us so much joy with their unconditional love.

I am in awe of Lexie’s ability to sleep anywhere, any time and without knowing it she does wonders for my ability to relax and stop. ❤️💕

Sometimes the first step in bringing the body back into balance is focusing on the nervous system. Bringing calm and safety where there has been stress and fear.

We all have within us the tools to allow this, opening up our breath, slowing it down and bringing it deep into the belly all help us feel calm and grounded.

Do you do 2-3 things at once?
Do you find it hard to relax?
Is it hard to sit still as there’s so much to do?

These are all signs that your nervous system may be feeling hyper vigilant and finds it hard to switch back from the fight and flight into the calm alive state.

Nourishing food can help support our nervous system and the breath can signal to the subconscious. It’s safe to rest.

Next time you can’t sit on the sofa and pause, try gently closing your eyes and starting to notice your body.

Where is any tension? How does it feel?

Then start to notice your breath…slow it down and feel it going deep into the belly of you can.

Just by extending the exhale you’re signalling to the subconscious. It’s safe to relax.

So much power in the breath. 💕

Often we don’t realise how our nervous system is feeling. We wonder why we’re struggling with digestive symptoms and the clue might not be found by focusing on the gut.

By pausing and noticing if the whole body is in fight or flight. Or even freeze (as I was), that might just provide the answer to addressing our symptoms.

Just start to notice and see how you feel in your body. It can always give an answer if you’re ready to listen ❤️💕

Alternate nostril breathing is a great technique to put your body into rest and digest before a meal.

Block one nostril and breathe in through the other.

Hold at the top 2 3 4 5

Then block the other nostril and breathe out

Pause

Then breathe in, hold for 5 and repeat.

Putting the body into rest and digest allows the digestive juices to flow ready for digestion.

A stressed body can’t digest, so this could be your first step towards less bloating and improved digestion.

And breathe….

And notice…..

Where does the breath go?
Do the Rina expand and contact?
Is the breath fast or slow?
is it deep or shallow?

I’m often taking about how amazing the breath is to reset the nervous system and find calm. But the foods we eat can have a big impact too.

Green leafy veg packed full of potassium, magnesium, vitamin K, B vitamins and vitamin C. These help to regulate blood pressure, support the nervous system and more.

Without these essential vitamins and minerals, it can be a stressor for the body which makes managing day to day stresses even harder.
