How accurate are your infusion rates?

A recent in-house study at Burtons revealed that fluid delivery can vary by up to 20% depending on pump calibration and the compatibility of the giving set. Even small inaccuracies can have a big impact, especially for smaller or critically ill patients.

As Burtons Technical Specialist, Baz Weller explains, “A poor giving set gives inconsistent results — and can even damage your pump.”

Regular calibration and the use of compatible giving sets are key to maintaining accurate and consistent fluid delivery. It’s not just about equipment performance — it’s about supporting better patient outcomes.

This month we’re celebrating another incredible milestone, Hilary, our Stock Coordinator, has been part of the Burtons team now for 20 years!

Over the last two decades, Hilary has seen Burtons grow and evolve in so many ways, from much smaller team, to the fast-moving, ambitious business we are today. Through it all, she’s been calm, committed, and deeply knowledgeable.

Hilary thrives on the buzz of a busy month end, keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes, and brings a steady presence that so many of us rely on. And as she’ll happily tell you, our new site (and the view!) at River Farm is quite special.
