Did you know? The Security Industry Authority (SIA) requires close protection operatives to hold a Level 3 or higher first aid qualification.

One recognised option is the First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) course.

This requirement means many working as security guards, bodyguards, door supervisors, and close protection operatives are now turning to FREC 3 training to support their SIA licence applications.

This footage from our archives shows a mock emergency mines rescue carried out by our Mines Rescue Service experts.

While much has changed since then, one thing remains the same: our commitment to keeping people safe underground.

We are still proud to offer a Mines Rescue Service, being recognised under the Mines Rescue Regulations 2014 as a specialist rescue provider and part of the National Mines Rescue Scheme.

Today, just as we did then, we continue to manage and maintain a highly skilled technical rescue and emergency response service – ready when it’s needed most.

The Health and Safety Executive has recently prosecuted a sole trader after a worker suffered serious injuries falling from a flat roof with no edge protection. The HSE found the work had not been properly risk assessed or planned, and edge protection was not in place.

Working at height remains one of the leading causes of workplace injury and death. Proper planning, risk assessment, and use of edge protection are non-negotiable for the safety of all workers.
