I think the best way of showing what homeopathy can do is to see how real people get better – so, with her permission, here is Melissa’s improvement.
Melissa came for homeopathy because she had been off work for many months after suffering a nervous breakdown: she was in a state of heightened, anxious shock that triggered flashbacks of childhood trauma. It was dominating her life.
In a chronic situation like this, homeopathy depends upon understanding the person and their state at its deepest level: Melissa described feeling that life was unpredictable, confusing and overwhelming. She had trust issues and was constantly on alert against being “attacked” and hurt. As a result, she was trying to control her feelings to avoid PTSD. Her sleep was disturbed and she had physical symptoms too, including neck, back and shoulder issues.
Based on my understanding of those symptoms I found a remedy for her and Melissa showed signs of improvement at her next appointment. She felt relief, “lighter” and had some perspective about her grief and losses. She wasn’t feeling the pain of her emotions so deeply. A great start.
After some months and adjusting the remedy’s strength, Melissa is going out more, has lost many of the emotional and physical symptoms she was struggling with - the central fearful feeling that she would be attacked is fading, allowing peace, better moods, good sleep and enjoyment of life to replace it.
Melissa says, “I’ve come out of my nervous breakdown. The biggest positive is that I’ve not been overwhelmed at all in all that time [of being treated].”
We are still working together, with a way to go before her full health potential is realised but I hope that it’s clear that homeopathy can help the whole person with all their symptoms, able to transform the negative, unwell state to the positive well one. Everyone is different and will need the remedy that suits them most accurately.
