Today, Safe Harbour turned 6!

Making the decision in 2019 to leave employment and start my own private practice was not an easy one, but I'm definitely not one for staying in my comfort zone 😊 Little did I know that a mere 6 months later, the country would be in lockdown and the world as we knew it would be turned upside down.

Despite everything ,I still saw my clients both online and during walk and talk sessions. Helping people remember the importance of human, in-person connection was my ultimate goal.

Since then, Safe Harbour has grown in leaps and bounds. I have held space for people over thousands of hours. I have had the privilege of supporting, listening to, laughing and sometimes crying with the wonderful people who share their hopes, fears and traumas with me. I'm so grateful for the work that I do. I love my clients. I treasure the depth of human connection we have.

Here's to the next year. Here's to all of you, past, present and future.

I feel so fortunate to have close relationships with women who champion others, who care, who support, who kick some ass, who aren't afraid to be real and authentic and who I know I can rely on. I have so much gratitude for these incredibly strong friendships. You know who you are, my darlings ❤️

Life is a bit odd at the moment for so many of us. We have been collectively dragged through Covid, lockdowns, wars, recession, political unrest, corruption, Scandoval (if you know, you know) and so much more besides - and witnessed through the devices that we carry and continually monitor.

We have all been impacted in one way or another. The toll this takes on our mental health is intense and the need to express our frustrations and sadness is at an all time high. Unfortunately, waiting lists for NHS counselling are also at their highest yet.

We are exhausted and need support. I get that. I see it all around me.

I am currently in the rare position to have capacity to take on two new clients. If you need private counselling and don't know where to start, give me a call or drop me a WhatsApp. If I can help you, I will. If I can't, then I can signpost you in the right direction.

Good morning! I hope you're all well and thriving.❤️

Social media has taken a bit of a back seat lately as I've been focusing on balancing my energy.

Running your own practice can sometimes make you forget the importance of focusing on your needs. My childhood trauma taught me that my feelings were not as important as others. Sometimes I will slip back into that way of thinking by default. Luckily, because of my own healing process and my work, I can refocus and prioritise myself once again.

It's important to see when we do this, so that we can bring ourselves back into balance.

I'm practicing what I preach, and also allowing myself to own when I can't quite manage it.

I'm back, balanced and raring to go, as the most authentic version of myself. Yay!

Does this sound familiar to you? We've all done it. You become a little bit infatuated with someone and pop them up on a pedestal. After a while, you notice that their words and actions don't align. You ignore that. You can see red flags EVERYWHERE and choose to put your head in the sand.

It's ok. It happens. Seeing the reality of somebody that you care about can be harsh, but it's not as harsh as repeatedly emotionally fu***ng yourself over in the hope that things will change.

If this a pattern for you, come and talk to me. I can help you unravel and understand the things that drive you to repeat this way of relating. I've been there. I get it.

Hi! I know I've been off social media for a while, but I've been super busy with clients and the practice has been full.

This week I've finished working with two of my incredible clients. It's a privilege to walk alongside them on their journeys. Watching my clients move through their trauma and into a space of authenticity and freedom is so beautiful and inspiring ❤️❤️
