Hiya folks!
We had our very successful Christmas service here this week, and things are getting more and more festive by the day. Our naughty Elf is being found in some random places, we're all eating too many mince pies and to top it off, this week's "meet the staff" member Tyrone Savill, is all but ready to fly into Christmas wearing a red hat, only not on a sleigh, on a BMX!

Tyrone really is a jack of all trades, qualified in building, all types of welding and everything funeral related. Growing up in the business, he's worked in every part of saying good bye to your loved ones, from digging the graves, planning the funerals to where he is now, working as a Crematorium and cemetery assistant for us here in Torbay.

Married to his wife for nearly 31 years, they love nothing more than walking their English bulldog and parents labrador together.
In his spare time though, Tyrone is building his dream. Always wanting an American Muscle car, he finally got one and is restoring it piece by piece! He's also 420 pages into writing a book all about the restoration, and we look forward to seeing that, and the car one day.

Like the gift that keeps on giving, we've recently found out that our Tyrone is also a champion!! In the worlds of both BMX and Motocross, the "king of the castle" being one particular title he has won! He's going to bring his trophies down from the attic one day, he just needs to convince his wife to give him wall space or a whole room.

We know that he takes a massive pride in everything he does here for us and he puts a huge effort in every day, because he really cares about giving everyone's loved ones the best possible send off.

Thankyou Tyrone for everything you do here, it is all noticed and greatly appreciated.

With only 3 of these "meet the staff" posts left until the big man fills our stockings, we're all starting to get a little bit excited here in the office... There may of even been an Elf or two spotted around the place this week as well... Various people take turns here to look after the Elf, but one person that hasn't had a pizza the action yet, is former Domino's employee and fully qualified electrician Ashley Mead.

Fresh from being a part of the team building the Elizabeth line in London, Ashley came to us and is a very popular member of our grounds team here at the Crematorium, passing his horticulture level 2 at Bicton college with a distinction. He loves that unlike his previous jobs, his reward now is seeing the difference it makes to families when they can say goodbye to loved ones in such a beautiful setting.

In his spare time, Ashley loves going for walks on the beach with his partner Tilly and Pablo the Chihuahua. Between walks he loves a bit of gaming, and also really enjoys a good bit of line dancing.

We have a great team here that really looks out for each other, and we're all really proud of the effort Ashley puts in to the job keeping everything looking so good. Huge thanks to you, it's really appreciated.

Hope everyone's well at the end of yet another week. It's all been doom and gloom in the news this week for most people with news of the budget! However, cutbacks aren't an option when it comes to the happiness that Crematorium and cemetery assistant Sarah Reece brings into our office.

For 24 years Sarah spent her time jet setting her way around most of the airport lounges of the world, working hard as an air hostess for Virgin. We were lucky enough to get her to come here when she hung up her wings and decided to plant some roots for a well earned break. Some things are hard to give up altogether though, and Sarah still brings all the glamour to the office while she walks around offering everyone tea or coffee.

Living at home with her partner Luke, and daughters Darcy and Lola, she enjoys nothing more than long walks with their dog Zeke, and picking up sea glass for her collection. Sarah does have an uncanny knack for getting really excited at the though of getting free firewood on rare occasions. We do wonder sometimes if she spent a bit long flying over Scotland in her previous job and " Scottish tight" rubbed off on her. 😉

We love having her here at the crematorium and it's our absolute pleasure to work with her each day. Huge thanks to you as well Sarah, from all of us, for everything you do....
