The countdown is on to our access all areas Open Day! Take a tour behind the scenes into the Crematory and you can ask the team how everything works. Or simply come along and sit in our beautiful chapel with a cup of tea and remember a lost loved one. We will be joined by Tom from Christophers Family Funerals, the team from Walter C. Parson Funeral Directors and our local Co-op funeralcare teams from Paignton and Torquay and Charles Russell Ceremonies, Michelle Parfitt Celebrant and Nancy Whitmarsh. A great question that we're often asked is, what actually happens at a crematorium? The team at Torbay Crematorium are hosting an Open Day on Sat 26th July, to answer exactly this and to show how they support their clients. If you wish, you can also see behind the scenes and learn all about the crematory process. We know that these tours and open days can help to allay fears and concerns about funerals - all questions are welcomed. We strongly support this approach; opening up our doors and letting the light into spaces that are often kept hidden, or are feared. If interested, we encourage you to go along on the 26th - you'll learn lots and meet a lovely bunch of humans who put care at the heart of everything they do.

In the Spot light today is Oliver J Knapman of Oliver J. Knapman Funeral Service located in Teignmouth. Oliver established the Funeral Directors in 2018 at the age of 21, making him one of the, If not the youngest Independent Funeral Director in the South West.

In the spotlight today is Sharon Wines a local celebrant of 11 years, compassionately supporting our bereaved local families.

Sharon qualified as a Celebrant in September 2014 after 16 years with the ambulance service. Sharon's aim is to achieve for every family or individual, a unique and truly personal ceremony to reflect their wishes, beliefs and values.

The opportunity to be able to provide such a service has been most rewarding and meeting so many amazing people, celebrating their loved ones lives has truly been a joy and an honour.

Sharon feels her strengths are; being able to talk to people, making myself available - as I understand that having that contact with someone through difficult times can be a source of comfort and reassurance. I am adaptable and strongly believe that a celebration of life should be just that.

Sharon's own passions in life are horses, having ridden for the last 40 years and competing both locally and nationally.

Thank you Sharon, for the care and support you provide our families in the Torbay community and surrounding area.

Allow me to introduce Nancy Whitmarsh of your way ceremonies based Newton Abbot. Nancy conducts ceremonies in South Devon, Torbay, Newton Abbot and Exeter. Throughout her career, which has been consistently people focussed, she has been preparing for the role of Funeral Celebrant. Nancy said, I have always had the desire to walk beside people who are suffering because of bereavement and help where I can to make things just a little bit easier. With kindness and compassion, I will create for you a unique, beautiful ceremony that encapsulates the life of your loved one and your relationship with them.

***Traffic Notice***

Please be aware there are road works at the entrance to the crematorium due to a water leak. South West Water have identified the issue and are in the process of repairing the pipe. There are tempary traffic lights controlling the flow of traffic, so if you are planning on visiting the Crematorium early this coming week, please allow a little extra time to your journey. We apologise for any inconvenience the repair work may cause.
