Are you needing calm in your life & time to slow down?

⭐ November I am starting the following sessions for you:

✨ Virtual Reflexology: book your zoom appointment to learn some Reflexology techniques to support your well-being if you cannot come in person. A personalised routine will be sent to you in email as a downloaded copy for you to look back over anytime.

✨ In person teaching session: for your own self-care, learn some techniques to support your health and wellness. This can be an add on session to your regular Reflexology/IHM/Thai Foot Massage appointment.

Feedback from my client's is important to me so I can see how Reflexology is making a positive difference or if we can tailor the session more to meet your individual needs.

A lovely text message from my client this morning after yesterday's session. If you would like to leave me a review you can do so by searching my website online Reflexology with Lynsey and under the review section. People often search for Reflexology in their area so leaving a review will help my small business grow. Thank you 🙏

Have a great day, Lynsey (AoR) 👣

🌿 World Mental Health Day 🌿

Today, we pause to remind ourselves — and each other — that our mental health matters just as much as our physical health.

We all have days when we struggle, moments when the weight feels heavy, and times when finding light seems impossible. But even in those moments, there is hope, health and healing.

Let’s make today about kindness, connection and compassion for ourselves and for those around us. Check in on a friend. Listen without judgment. Speak to yourself gently. Remember that reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Whether you’re celebrating progress or simply holding on, you are doing enough, and you are enough!

Let’s keep building a world where talking about mental health is normal, where care is accessible, and where every person feels seen, heard, and valued.

In my treatment room i offer Mindful Reflexology which is advanced techniques to support your low mood, unbalanced or unprocessed emotions, stress or anxiety. A 1:1 safe space for you to let go and just be you with no judgement but calm, warmth and strength.

Are you allowing time for your own self-care?

🌿 Self-care is the practice of taking intentional actions to support your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, especially during periods of stress. It can look different day to day, depending on what your body or mind needs.

🌿 If you’re setting self-care goals or looking for a self-care tip that fits your routine, it helps to start small. These best practices for self-care are designed to support your self-care and wellness process without overwhelming it. After all, the most helpful habits are the ones you’ll actually return to stick with.

Here are my 3......

🌿 Having quiet time to sit in fresh air and natural light, micro learning or reading with a hot coffee. ☕ 📖 ☀️

🌿 Taking walks by myself, with family or friends and of course our furry one Barney 🐾 🌲 🌿

🌿 Feeling the sand between my toes, having a paddle in the sea and watching the sunset is calming and grounding. 🌊

🌺 Menopause Awareness Month 🌺

Reflexology can be used as a holistic therapy to help improve women's health. As we transition through each phase from puberty, menstruation, peri-menopause and menopause we all have our own unique journey and different experiences or symptoms. Support is available by using reflexology as a tool to help you connect with your body as you go through the physical and emotional stages of life. Specific reflexology techniques can be used to calm and balance the endocrine, nervous and lymphatic system, balance hormones and reduce stress, low mood and anxiety.

The big why???

🌿 Having had many Reflexology sessions myself I found the experience deeply relaxing, mindful and helped with chronic back pain.

🌿 I spent 22 years as a Health Care Assistant then Registered Nurse working in the NHS. Eventually I was feeling burnout, stress, anxiety with the ongoing pressure and feeling that I couldn't care for my patients the way I wanted and how we should be expected to.

🌿 I decided to train to become a Reflexologist and completed a Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology for wellbeing in 2022 with a distinction at the Devon school of Reflexology.

🌿 Being a Reflexologist is now my full-time role and has naturally evolved over the past 3 years to incorporate other holistic therapies. I am passionate about all things Reflexology, Thai Foot Massage and Indian Head Massage. These therapies compliment each other well and can make a positive difference to the way we feel physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

🌿 I help to empower my clients to take control of their own health and wellbeing. I work 1:1 from my practice at home and offer a safe space to let go and just be you.

🌿 Running your own small business has it's highs and lows but I love the freedom Reflexology has given me with a better work life balance. To have the time with my son as he grows is priceless.

So what is the history of Reflexology?

🌿Healing the body through working with the hands, feet, face or ears is an ancient art that was practiced in a number of early cultures. The earliest evidence was discovered in Egypt in the tomb of Ankomah where pictures show people receiving hand and foot massage asking 'give strength' and 'do not cause pain'.

🌿 The ancient Chinese worked their hands and feet to maintain good health and prevent disease. They developed traditional Chinese medicine and their theory is that ones 'vital energy' or 'life force' runs through 14 major meridians or channels in the body. 12 of these either begin or end in the tips of the fingers or toes and to massage these areas stimulate the flow of energy and clears congestion, creating harmony in the body.

🌿 Foot massage plays a significant role in Ayurvedic medicine developed in India. The word meaning 'science of life' and encompasses not only physical health but also spiritual and emotional well being.

🌿 Reflexology zone therapy came about by Dr William Fitzgerald (1913), he introduced zone therapy to the western world and believed that reflex areas on the hands and feet were linked to areas of the body. Eunice Ingham (1930's) was a Physiotherapist and known as the 'mother of modern reflexology'. She further developed zone therapy into what is known today as Reflexology. Using Dr Fitzgerald's theory of zone therapy, she used 10 zones of the body onto the feet placing all the organs and structures inside. In her words a 'principle of dividing the body into 10 zones', aiding us in the ability to locate the reflexes in the feet relative to every part of the body. In this way she developed the 'foot maps' which form the basis of Reflexology. In 1966 an English Nurse Doreen Bayley brought Reflexology to the UK after being trained by Eunice Ingham.

So what is Reflexology?

🌿 Reflexology is a complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; reducing stress can be key in optimising good health and building resilience.

🌿 It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body and Reflexologists work these points and areas using massage and stimulation techniques with their fingers, thumbs, knuckles.

🌿 Reflexology can be used safely alongside standard healthcare to promote better health and wellbeing.

🌿 Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. Some contraindications may limit treatment.

🌿 Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individualised treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors such as emotions , stagnant energy that might be affecting wellbeing. Some people find it works for them – some don’t. The best way to find out is to try it!
