The COVID-19 pandemic has changed life for us all and in the pharmacy we certainly weren’t left behind. On April 9th our doors were forced shut and they haven’t opened again properly since.

Thanks to the help of the hospital transport services however, we continued to get patients their medicines whilst keeping them safe at home.

Since lockdown was put in place on 23rd March we have delivered 12,277 prescriptions to patients at home, peaking last month at 2891 deliveries. We have delivered to Plymouth, Collumpton, Okehampton and even Torquay!

Thank you for all of your patience and understanding over the past few months. The messages of support and thanks really mean a lot to our whole team.

A reminder that due to the current situation and access restrictions in place at Torbay Hospital, access to our pharmacy is totally restricted to both patients and non-pharmacy staff. Please do not come to the hospital to collect your prescription.

We are currently organising around 130 home deliveries a day all across the county, from Plymouth to Exmouth, Salcombe to Okehampton. Due to the significantly increased delivery volume we cannot guarantee everyone will get the usual 2 hour delivery time slot due to bringing in extra delivery drivers.

Following increasing problems this week, we only ask that if you have arranged delivery for a specific day that you please be at home to receive it - with the sunny weather it is very tempting to go out but please don't. Show our very hardworking hospital staff respect by staying in to receive your medication so the journey isn't wasted.

Please follow the government guidance. Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.
