IN MEMORY OF SUZI.

There will be a memorial service for Suzi taking place at the Civic Hall in Totnes on Thursday 8th August 2024.

The service will start at 2pm with a more structured part for an hour or so, followed by a more informal remembrance for the rest of the afternoon. People can bring flowers and food to share if they feel moved to. People are free to stay as little or long as they wish.

We have the space from midday onwards and we would appreciate any offer of help to get the hall ready(chairs, tables, decorating) before the event and helping with clear up afterwards.

If anyone feels they are able to contribute to setting up, clearing up or have something they particularly want to share about their interaction with Suzi, then please use messenger to make contact.

Please let other people, who may not be able to see this post, know about the event a well, thank you(Micky Read).

Hi there, Micky Read here. I'm using Suzi's account to inform people about a vigil for Suzi that's taking place at the funeral home in Dartington this Friday (26th) afternoon between 12 and 5pm. If anybody wishes to pay their last respects to Suzi, bring flowers or some other token, or just sit quietly. You can view Suzi or not. The space created by the Green Funeral Company feels very safe and accommodating. The Green Funeral Company premises in Dartington are next door to the Almond Thief Bakery. Parking is limited, so if you're local, you may wish to travel without the car. Please let anyone know who you feel might wish to come along .
I'll be giving details about a planned memorial for Suzi in the next couple of days. Any questions, please message through Sue's account.
Thank you everyone for all your kind words and thoughts. Rest assured these messages have been a deep comfort to myself and her family.

SUZI READ 1966 - 2024
It is with incredible sadness that I have to tell you that my beloved wife, Suzi, passed away this morning. Her passing was very, very peaceful. In her last hour, her breath became lighter and lighter and then quietly slipped away all together. I want to thank all the loving support and beautiful messages that she received and that helped to comfort and sustain her spirits as she neared the end of her life. Her family and I now need time to grieve and process our great loss. Thank you and goodnight my beautiful Love. - Micky Read

We've been SUPER QUIET - as in, non-existent - here on our page recently 🤭

Why?

Because apart from looking after our MOVEDtoMOVE Members by continuing to run our 13-Class/week Timetable we've been busy focussing on other things too.

Like RE-OPENING our Soft Tissue Therapy Clinic.

EXPANDING Suzi's Pelvic Floor Coaching Practice.

And just doing FAMILY THINGS.

Because we are people. Basic humans. (Not Super-Heroes.) Probably a lot like you.

The MOVEMENT side of MOVEDtoMOVE is still all going on quietly in the background though!

And it's a BIG PART of what we do to help people Move More Easily, Get More Active & Enjoy Life More 💜

Want to know more about WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO?

Find out more about OUR CLASSES and WHO WE HELP?

Want to GET TO KNOW US?

If you do, your best move RIGHT NOW is to sign up to our MOVE MORE MONDAYS Newsletter to find out all that...and MUCH MORE!

(Mainly because today saw our last live classes for 2021 and we're about to take a little well-earned rest. So that's simply the best way of keeping in contact for now.)

DO YOU NEED TO STAGE YOUR OWN INTERVENTION?!

When it comes to your movement and fitness, you’ve probably got something you want to get results with?

More strength? More flexibility? Less discomfort? More Ease?

Or just to get - and stay - consistent with an exercise programme?

You want to succeed, right?

You have the desire to exercise and get fit/ strong/ flexible/ healthy/ comfortable (delete as applicable).

We know you do!

So why is it SO HARD to make it happen?

Maybe you’re great at setting yourself good intentions.

But then you never quite follow them through.

Or if you do it doesn’t last too long.

We get how hard it can be.

It’s even hard for us to keep up with our movement, health and fitness commitments at times (and we’re fitness instructors and ‘should know better’!).

We can go along for months, and even years, with a regular habit.

It might be a part of Micky’s daily T’ai Chi practice.

It might be a general fitness programme we’re following together. ‘Religiously’ keeping up with a specific workout tyoe, for secific outcomes, 2 or 3 times a week.

Maybe it’s a cleaner way of eating.

A meditation practice.

Or just a daily walk.

We can keep these habits ticking along nicely once they’ve gained momentum (sometimes actually starting is the hardest part!) and then something comes along and gets in the way.

It can be as simple as change in routine. Going away for a week. Different work hours. A family member to look after.

Or maybe it’s something going on with our body. A niggling ache, pain or injury (we’re ‘only human’!).

A bad cold (rare for us, but we can’t always avoid these), a toothache or an appointment somewhere at 'the wrong' time.

And we let it trip us up. It’s happened to both of us on more than one occasion.

Of course we have one another to ‘remind’ (aka: give a gentle boot up the backside) each other. We have each other as accountability buddies.

But that’s partly where ‘setting your own intervention’ comes in to play.

We can provide accountability for you too - we do for all our members that come along to our live (online) movement & fitness classes.

They say that knowing we’re expecting them in their favourite classes, will notice when they’re not there and that they can chat to us and ask us anything about their fitness, goals or any injuries etc. really helps to keep them motivated and committed.

They can share their intentions with us. And we can support their efforts and celebrate their successes with them.

They tell us they’re much less likely to let something going on in their life ‘trip them up’ and inadvertently get them to throw their good intentions away.

If you really want to succeed in gaining that strength, losing those pounds, finding that movement freedom or whatever else your fitness goals are, you can’t go it alone!

But you don’t need us.

You can stage your own intervention!

1. Get really clear on what you want and how you’re going to get it (e.g. 3 suitable strength classes a week or 15 minute mini workout every day etc.).

2. Make your goals realistic and measurable and write them down.

3. Ask a friend, partner or family member to hold you accountable and show them what you’ve written so they’re clear on what you’re committing to.

4. Lay down your ‘rules’ very definitely and specifically and set yourself rewards (ones that fit in with your overall aims….rewarding yourself with a plate of cookies when your goal is weightloss might not be the best idea here) for when you stick to your plans and reach your targets.

5. Join a community or membership or sign up with a coach so you can share your awesome wins as well as your vulnerabilities.

Make a great plan.

Make it a great week.

Stick with it.

And let us know how you’ve got on.

⁉️ DID YOU KNOW?

👉 In the 1950s, in USA, Jack LaLanne, an American fitness and nutrition guru after whom ‘Jumping Jacks’ (also known as star jumps: widening arms and legs as you jump in the air) hosted the first TV fitness programme on national television.

Jack was also the first person to:

💪 promote athletes working out with weights
😍 have women working out with weights
😃 have the elderly working out with weights
❤️ encourage the physically challenged to exercise and to work around their disabilities
😊 create a weight loss Instant Breakfast meal replacement drink (protein powder)

😳 Although his ideas were both ridiculed and contested at the time by many including the medical profession, Jack LaLanne - clearly head of his time - was the forerunner to many of the health and exercise practices and protocols that we consider to be the foundation of fitness today.

❤️ He lived until 96 and was reported to have continued his 2 hour daily workouts until the day before he died (of pneumonia, not exercise!).

💡Take a leaf out of Jack's book.

⏱ It doesn't have to be 2 hr workouts: Just 15 mins a day could be enough!
