“It is a wonderful programme, and our children love doing it at school and then showing their parents how they do it! We have found that the children love brushing their teeth to songs, this is a great encouragement for them. Many parents said they didn’t use a song but have now started to use the songs in their routines.”

When you eat ice cream, it’s best to eat it as a dessert after your meal. Consider sugar-free ice cream as a healthier option!

Here’s a lovely photo of Chantelle and our furry friend Bob the Badger during a visit to one of our participating schools. The children loved meeting Bob and learning all about the importance of brushing their teeth properly every day.

It's been a busy week at schools and nurseries. Thank you to these amazing settings that have allowed time for us to visit them for various reason including quality assurance checks, launch sessions, support sessions, PR and media days and prize giving! We have been so impressed by all staff and children!

We are very proud to announce we won the Big Brush Club display board competition! We are the first setting in Cornwall to win the prize! The children show great enthusiasm when brushing their teeth, so it was lovely to be awarded for their hard work! Well done team Kea Preschool Big Brush Club

“The children really enjoy cleaning their teeth at the end of each day. They each sit on the carpet and wait for their group to be called to collect their toothbrush. They then put on their own toothpaste by scraping their toothbrush along a cleaned tens frame, before returning to the carpet. When all the children have their toothbrushes, they clean their teeth whilst listening to the song provided. At the end of the song, the children independently rinse their brush before handing this to an adult to be put away on the shelf.”

We had a Quality Assurance Check by Big Brush Club who observed Starfish Class cleaning their teeth and more importantly made sure the adults were delivering and setting up the sessions safely and correctly. We passed with flying colours but more importantly are supporting the children's oral health and healthier futures.

The research that has gone into the ToothPASTE website has enabled the development of a set of well-targeted tools to support neurodivergent young people and will really help their parents and carers. We know that supporting neurodivergent children and those with additional sensory requirements can present specific challenges, so guidance to help all children achieve healthy teeth and gums, is something BSPD is keen to support.” Dr Shannu Bhatia, President, BSPD

It's the end of a hot week and Bob the Badger has been in hibernation🥵. The Big Brush Team have enjoyed visiting some fantastic settings across the south west.

It's a fantastic achievement to see Oral Health Champions complete training with us and implement the supervised toothbrushing programme to perfection👌. Well done to all the amazing staff and children.
