About Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine can be traced back to the beginning of human history and is still the main system of medicine used by over 80% of the population around the world. Herbal medicine involves using medicinal plants to support the body’s own healing mechanisms during illness as well as through prevention, addressing early signs of imbalance before they manifest in the form of chr
onic disease. My Approach
I believe health is not just the absence of disease but can be experienced as an inherent sense of vitality and general wellbeing. My aim is to find out what is blocking this state of health on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level and support you in regaining it. I am particularly interested in looking at the energetic imbalance at the root of illness and identifying the individual’s constitution and then using specific herbs that address this whole picture. Plants have their own energetic profile, as well as their own physical or chemical properties. Through growing and making my own medicines, herb tasting meditations, journeying and observing the doctrine of signatures, I connect to the plant’s deeper nature and this supports me in matching the plant with the person. About Myself
I trained in herbal medicine at the Scottish school of Herbal Medicine. During my degree I also completed an ITEC diploma in Therapeutic Massage and one in Aromatherapy. I have experience in treating a wide range of illnesses and being a mother I have experience treating babies and children, an area of particular interest too me. I also worked at festivals doing first aid and acute herbal medicine for about 5 years. In my practice I incorporate the trainings I have taken in the following areas: traditional western medicine, body diagnosis, plant spirit medicine, ayurveda, herbal energetics, cherokee medicine, soul retrieval, fertility, prenatal preparation, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal support, . I am passionate about connecting people to plants through my consultations and workshops. I also have an interest in compassionate communication and offer a Parenting From the Heart peer group locally with Jo Raeburn. The Consultation
The first consultation lasts an hour and involves taking a full case history, feeling the pulse, looking at the tongue, observing general body characteristics and carrying out any relevant clinical examinations, such as routine blood pressure checks. I then write a prescription and give general lifestyle and dietary advice. Follow-up appointments are usually arranged every three weeks at first and last about half an hour.
