"This is Our Beautiful Betty, who is nearly 5 years old. Betty suffered H.I.E grade 3 at birth and was given a very small chance of survival. She amazes us every day with all she can achieve in the face of a heap of diagnosis and difficulties. A music lover and fan of all things sparkly, Betty is never happier than having a snuggle with her favourite people, or walking in nature and taking in the trees. She is so funny and sassy and has everyone who knows her wrapped around her little finger. Betty is non-speaking but taught us to communicate with her by blinking, and recently learnt to shake her head too. She is using PODD to communicate more with us and is picking it up much faster than the adults around her! She throws herself into everything we challenge her with and is constantly surpassing all our expectations.

Betty is the only girl, with four brothers to keep her busy, but she loves all the chaos and fun they bring, and they adore their sister.

We discovered Peeps a few days after Betty was born. Her dad googled H.I.E and Peeps came up. Sarah contacted Chris immediately after us reaching out and I feel so lucky to have their support in our families journey. The Peeps WhatsApp group is a complete life line to me and often the first place I turn to when I need info, advice or support, and where I love to share Betty’s achievements. I feel so privileged to share the highs and lows of the lives of other families too. They certainly make this life much less lonely and scary."
