You may have seen recent headlines that people living with obesity will be able to begin accessing tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight loss purposes in primary care settings. This does not mean prescriptions will be provided immediately. It means primary care settings can begin discussions with patients about whether tirzepatide is the right option to improve their health through weight loss.

In Hampshire and the Isle of Wight around 1,000 people currently qualify for the medication based on national eligibility criteria – the ICB are working to set up services quickly, however this will not be available locally until later this year (Autumn) – so please don’t contact the surgery just yet, as we will be unable to help currently.

Full qualifying criteria is a BMI of 40 or greater and FOUR or MORE of the following diagnosed health conditions:

- Type 2 diabetes
- Hypertension
- Cardiovascular disease
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Dyslipidaemia

Refurbishment works at Totton Health Centre

There are refurbishment works taking place at Totton Health Centre until the end of March 2025. We will endeavour to keep the disruption for patients to a minimum and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period.

The Health Centre will be closed completely from Friday 14th February to Friday 21st February inc. There will be no members of staff or clinicians on site during this time.

Totton Health Centre will reopen as normal on Monday 24th February.

Forest Gate Surgery will be open as normal. A full service will be provided from this site during our normal opening hours, Monday – Friday 8.30am – 6pm. We are closed on a Monday 1-2pm.

**URGENT UPDATE**
Due to the ongoing Southern Water incident, Forest Gate Surgery will remain closed today as there is still no water supply.
Our Totton Health Centre site is open as normal.
If you have an appointment at Forest Gate Surgery today and have not already been contacted, please attend Totton Health Centre for your appointment.
Please also note that Forest Gate Surgery will be closed tomorrow.
