Regular foot care can prevent your feet from ending up like this.

This patient’s toe had split at the base due to severe dryness, combined with wearing the wrong type of footwear.

We carried out an Elim Pedicure while carefully avoiding the split area, which instantly improved both the look and comfort of the foot.

The patient has been advised to use a daily foot cream containing 10% urea to help keep dryness under control, and I’ll be seeing her again in around 6 weeks for a follow-up.

Stepped on a bee?

Here’s what to do:

• Get somewhere safe
• Remove the stinger ASAP (scrape it out — don’t squeeze)
• Wash with soap & water
• Ice it for 10–15 mins
• Elevate your foot if swollen
• Antihistamine or pain relief can help

Get urgent help if you have: trouble breathing, dizziness, facial swelling, or widespread hives.

Protect your feet - wear sandals

Did you know a nail can sometimes regrow even after surgical removal?

This patient had her toenail removed years ago due to recurring ingrown toenails. Over time, the nail has partially regrown, but in an irregular way.

She also developed a fungal nail infection, which caused part of the nail to become detached, thickened, and crumbly.

During today’s treatment, the damaged section was carefully reduced and removed, and the nail surface was filed to help improve the overall appearance and create a smoother finish.

The patient will now continue antifungal treatment at home, and we’ll reassess the nail growth and progress at her next appointment in 6 weeks.

Regular maintenance and early treatment can make a huge difference to both nail health and confidence. If you have a footcare issue that is bothering you, don't be embarrassed-contact me.

Tomorrow I will be at Southampton airport offering footcare treatments and advice to their staff as part of a Health and Wellness week.

Did you know...staff wellness matters because it directly affects how people think, work, collaborate, and stay healthy over time.

Organisations that support employee wellbeing usually see better performance, lower turnover, and healthier workplace cultures.

Well done to Liz Bridle for organising such an exciting week for your staff

Did you know...walking barefoot on sand can support healthy foot development in children because sand is soft, uneven, and constantly shifting.

That forces the feet and lower legs to work in ways that flat indoor surfaces don’t.

Some potential benefits include:

* Stronger foot muscles: gripping and stabilising in sand activates small muscles in the feet and ankles.

* Better balance and coordination: uneven terrain challenges the body’s balance systems.

* Natural arch development: barefoot movement allows the foot to move more freely than stiff shoes do.

* Sensory development: sand provides rich tactile feedback, which helps proprioception (awareness of body position and movement).

* Ankle stability: the shifting surface encourages small stabilising movements.
It can also encourage a more natural walking pattern:
shorter steps, softer landings and more toe engagement.

But be very careful. Very long walks on deep sand can overtire small feet and calves.
Hot sand, sharp shells and wrongly disposed of litter are all hazards.
