As Chair and Co-Founder, I feel it is important to be open and honest about the position many charities and community organisations now find themselves in.
The sector is facing one of the most challenging periods in recent years. From our perspective, the greatest pressures are burnout within the workforce and volunteer base, combined with a noticeable slowing of public goodwill and support.
Demand for our services continues to increase, particularly across mental health, wellbeing, and community outreach, yet the capacity to meet that demand is becoming increasingly stretched.
Those leading and delivering support on the ground are carrying an ever-growing workload. Staff, volunteers, and trustees are working tirelessly, but the emotional and operational strain is significant.
At the same time, we fully recognise that the wider public is also facing immense personal and financial pressures, which has naturally impacted the level of support people are able to offer.
Compassion has not disappeared, but many people are themselves exhausted, financially stretched, and faced with constant demands on their time and resources.
This has created an environment where charities are being asked to do more with less.
We have now reached a point where, under these circumstances, we must begin seriously considering the future sustainability of our work if additional support is not found.
This is therefore both a statement of our current reality and a heartfelt public appeal.
Without additional help, we may be forced to review what we can continue to provide going forward.
That is not a position we ever wanted to be in, especially when the need within our community has never been greater.
We remain committed to our mission, but we cannot do this alone. We are asking our community, supporters, and those who believe in the value of this work to come forward and help us protect its future.
