Three of our lovely volunteers / visitors, Anne, Pauline and Barbara, went along to the Towcester Library Jingle Jamboree on Saturday to sell some of their home-made gifts and other donated goodies. They enjoyed chatting to people about what we do and managed to make £150, which will all go to renew169. Thank you ladies!

Thanks to a funding grant from the Northamptonshire Community Foundation, we are currently running a cookery course in conjunction with Cooking Good. A small portion of the grant was allocated towards creating a recipe booklet and it has been a really enjoyable, collaborative project. Staff, volunteers and visitors alike submitted recipes (as well as wellbeing affirmations and limericks) for inclusion; we had a fun, if chaotic, tasting session before settling on which recipes to include; local artist Val Goldfinch (Val Goldfinch Designs) created some truly fabulous illustrations for us and now the booklet is complete. We will be selling them to raise funds for renew169. They will make fabulous Christmas stocking fillers and are a snip at just £5 each. Look out for them at our stalls at the Towcester Library Jingle Jamboree Christmas Fair tomorrow and the Watling St. Village Christmas Market on 7 December. You can also pick up a copy at the café or from the Towcester Community Larder from next week.

We had a fabulous time at our fund raising Quiz Night last night and raised the amazing amount of £1160.00. All 90 tickets were sold, raising £450.00 and a further £710.00 was made from the raffle. Our grateful thanks to Towcester Mill Brewery for hosting the event, Inspire Change for running the quiz so brilliantly and all the local businesses who kindly donated the raffle prizes. The incredible generosity of all of these organisations, as well as everyone who came along, means that every penny raised will go towards the ongoing work of renew169. Thank you!

The community gardeners have been busy again today, continuing with building new beds ready for planting, as well as harvesting a variety of vegetables, which will be making their way to the café to be used to make soup and light lunches. The community garden sessions are currently held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10.30am to 1pm and are open to anyone who would like to come along.

Knitting has become a really popular pastime again in recent years and is an excellent way to relax and de-stress. Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting? Or would you like to learn? Good news! We have a knitting group, which meets at the café every week on Wednesdays from 10am to 12noon. Bring your own knitting or learn to knit or crochet. We are currently making fingerless mittens to wear yourself or to give as a Christmas gift. All are welcome to come along and join us!

Today is All Souls Day, when we particularly remember those we have loved and lost. As a simple act of remembrance and thanksgiving for the lives of relatives or friends who have died, if you write the names of those you are remembering in the comments, we will say a prayer for them. If you would prefer to pray with someone in person, the reverend Dr. Jim Mullin, who is one of our trustees, will be in the quiet space at the rear of the café on Monday morning from 11.30am. All are welcome to come along and join him.
