⚠️ Meningitis B Vaccine Information ⚠️

We would like to inform our patients that, due to ongoing supply issues, we currently have no availability of the Meningitis B vaccine at the pharmacy. Unfortunately, this is a nationwide shortage and all stock is currently unavailable.

We understand this may be particularly concerning given the recent outbreak in Kent, and we completely appreciate the importance of timely vaccination. Please be assured that we are monitoring the situation very closely and will restock as soon as supplies become available.

In the meantime, we are operating a waiting list. If you would like to be contacted once the vaccine is back in stock, please get in touch with the pharmacy and we will take your name and contact details.

Thank you for your understanding and patience — we’re here to support you and your family, and we’ll update you as soon as we have further information.

Diolch / Thank you

📣 Delighted to share at Tynewydd Pharmacy that our pharmacist and owner, Gareth, has been elected to the National Pharmacy Advisory Council for what will become the Royal College of Pharmacy of Great Britain in April.

🗳️ The position is elected by pharmacist members across Wales, and enables Gareth to represent members in shaping the future of pharmacy for the profession and for patients.

🩺 The creation of the Royal College of Pharmacy represents an historic opportunity to strengthen professional leadership, enhance advocacy, and support the safe and effective use of medicines in the UK, as well as the ever evolving role of pharmacists and pharmacy teams.

Diolch i bawb gwnaeth pleidleisio / Thank you to everyone that voted 💚

⚠️Norovirus (diarrhoea and vomiting) is currently circulating in Cwm Taf Morgannwg hospital sites.

👉 Advice: “Please do not visit any of our hospitals if you have had diarrhoea and or vomiting in the last 48 hours, or have been caring for someone with these symptoms during the last 72 hours.”

🚰 Norovirus can be treated at home with hydration and rest. If you have symptoms of norovirus, stay home for 48 hours after they clear.
Electrolytes can help and are available from your pharmacy

💡Follow these simple steps to avoid spreading the infection:
• Stay home for 48 hours after symptoms clear
• Wash hands with soap and warm water. Alcohol-based gels are ineffective against norovirus.
• Don't prepare food for others

Please visit the NHS 111 Wales webpage where you can get advice on how to manage norovirus at home.👇

📣 Availability of Co-codamol 30/500 tablets:

There is a current shortage of this medication nationally, however at Tynewydd Pharmacy we have worked hard to source sufficient supplies that there will not be any short term supply issues for our patients.

We will keep you updated of any changes. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Take care,
Gareth

There is currently a national shortage of co codamol 30/500 tablets, affecting supplies across Wales and the rest of the UK. Our healthcare teams have been advised on how to manage this so that patients continue to receive safe and appropriate pain relief.

To help us manage supply safely, we are asking patients to:
• Only request your medication when it is due – please do not order early or ask for extra supplies.
• Use up any tablets you already have at home before requesting more.
• Be aware that your prescriber may make changes to your prescription so that your treatment can continue safely.
• Check the instructions on your medication, as your dose or product may change.
• Let your healthcare team know if you have recently changed what you take for pain relief.

Stockpiling reduces availability for people who need treatment now. Thank you for helping us to use medicines responsibly during this disruption.

If you have concerns about your pain management or your prescription, please speak with your healthcare team.

All about us.

We are a small, friendly, local pharmacy, previously operating as Geraint Davies Pharmacy. Between us, the staff have had over 50 years experience of working in this pharmacy, and are excited about the new opportunities that will come with a new owner with fresh ideas and a modern outlook.

We aim to deliver the same excellent service that we have always been proud of, and are looking forward to welcoming many new customers in the future.

Our services include a prescription collection and delivery service, blood pressure monitoring, medication reviews and the choose pharmacy scheme, but if there are any services you would like to see us offer in the future then please feel free to call in or give us a ring and we shall be more than happy to discuss how we can help.
