WEIGHT MANAGEMENT UPDATE:

Hi everyone.
After the bombshell of the last couple of days, wanted to share an update of what we have done so far:

✅ Additional Stocks Being Secured - Have been busy securing additional stocks to ensure you don’t have an interruption to supply
✅ No price changes currently
✅ Letter of complaint issued directly to manufacturer Eli Lilly on behalf of patients.
✅ Encouraged all other independent pharmacies across Wales and colleagues in England to do similar

❓What else is happening:
👉 A petition has been initiated. Awaiting clearance before being shared more widely
👉 Concerns raised to Secretary of State for Health at Westminster

We continue to do everything we can to ensure that you all continue on your amazing journeys that have given you back so much 💚

To all our wonderful Weight Management patients:

Yesterday we were told that the manufacturers of Mounjaro, Eli Lilly, are increasing the purchase price of the medication by a significant amount on the 1st September 2025.

This is shocking and unexpected news, and we were informed at the same time as the press release - so have had no chance to prepare and adjust.

Improving patient wellbeing is our primary focus at Tynewydd Pharmacy, and the decision for these drastic price increases conflicts with our beliefs. I have yesterday written to register a complaint with Eli Lilly at the potential negative impact to some patients, who have done so well and with little time to prepare a management plan.

This affects all suppliers of the medication, and is in no way set or decided by us.

I fully appreciate this is concerning, and I promise we will keep you informed as soon as we have more to tell.

Once we’ve heard more about what this will mean for you, we will let you know. We are working on a plan of action to continue to provide the service at the current level, whilst also keeping it as affordable as possible.

We truly recognise that along with the incredible transformations we have been witnessing in patient journeys, that the medicines are an expense and the large price hike will represent challenges.

We can't yet comment on what those price increases may be, or when they will come in to play, as deals are still being discussed between Eli Lilly and wholesalers, but we will release more information as it comes over the next few days and weeks.

On a personal note, I have been privileged to bear witness to the incredible journeys and results patients have had with these medications, and to limit the accessibility of this service by hiking the prices excessively is abhorrent to us. I have put so much time and effort into making this a successful service to really help people rediscover themselves and win back their quality of life. I am devastated by this news, and will do everything I can to keep this service affordable for you.

There is no impact on the price of our other GLP-1 weight loss medication, Wegovy.
